We had a similar company who delivered in our street in Scotland from the back of an open truck. Crates stacked high on an angled floor, leaning into the middle of the truck bed. Nothing roped down, all stocks of glass bottles in crates open to the elements.

No Health and Safety in them days.

There’s some great memories here. I was trying to think of the other music shop, so thanks for the HMV reminder.

I remember high streets all having Burton’s, Fosters, Chelsea Girl (I think), all slowly dying a death.

In a district of Brum, we had the MEB (Midlands Electicity Board). It was massive and also sold electric items. TSB and Midland Bank which I think transitioned to HSBC. Used to be Building Societies as well as banks.

As some mentioned the pop man. Corona. We also had Dayla (I think). 6 bottles me ma would buy. Limeade, Orangeade but the household favourites were Ice Cream Soda and Dandelion & Burdock.

Which reminds me - once a marathon and Opal Fruits, always a marathon and Opal Fruits. You can imagine how happy I was when they brought the retro edition back last year. Happiest I’d been since eating a lion bar walking to Olympus Sports.
