So I have been a member for a couple of months and I have noticed 2 things. Couples/Females receive so many messages that the special one in the mail box may get missed during a mass delete. For men they moan about not getting any messages.

So Lets get the website to block any man from sending any wink/message/friends invites.

This will free up the others in the community here to review and select and give everyone some breathing space.

Good or bad idea?

Women and couples can block men from messaging them if they wish.

You know woman can put filters on to not receive mail from anyone. What needs to happen is everyone having the ability to read profiles. (I say everyone as it’s not just men!)

Hefty Hideaway

Don’t worry the one decent message tends to shine like a beacon.

If a message doesn’t get a reply it isn’t always because it hasn’t been seen.

Women tend to self filter quite well.

So men who pay the membership fee can't use all the features of the site like everyone else. Brilliant idea. That'll go far

That's a bit unfair. You seem to be implying that the Op is not a good guy and by extension neither is any other man who rarely get replies.

There and to the left a bit

That's very weighted like it's a problem to solve a perceived problem for men though OP i.e. "My message isn't getting seen because of all the other messages ladies/couples get"

While it's true that some ladies get inundated with messages they have filters and other tools at their disposal to minimise that influx.

And men have everything at their disposal to make the best use of the site and get a positive experience from it, if they use the tools provided appropriately and in a way that works for them.

Your idea although a good one in principle wouldn't work for a couple of reasons - firstly some ladies like to be recipients rather than having to look for themselves, and secondly if you did that the forums would be awash with men moaning no-one ever messages them, or using the forums to try and attract attention, so you'd be shifting the "problem" from one place to another.

Now if it were a case that new male members can't message/wink etc for a period of time (say 2-4 weeks) then it might be workable.

?

But what about the ladies that are too shy or don't like to send the first message? They'll never get any meets if they're looking for single guys.

And, it's really very easy to ignore/block/delete the numptybollocks messages, or to set your filters so that you don't receive them in the first place...I really don't see any reason to moan if you apply a bit of common sense to how you run your profile.

As usual some very sarcastic replies just because somebody dares to have an opinion.

Personally I don't think it's a good idea OP, there is an option to be able to block certain groups from messaging you so if women or couples don't want to here from men for example they can block messages from them.

I think to the extent that changes like this might be suggested, I think they should be limited to newbies and not set across the board. Breathing room to get your head around the site if you don't realise you're going to be drowning in mail.

But the OP isn't to know this topic has been done to death

Messages from single men to women can work OP . Some may well get bulk deleted but that usually means your choice of person is everybody else's choice and its not a reflection on yourself. I have been fortunate to see the messages single women receive daily and having done so you quickly realise how poor the quality can be.

I haven't read the entire thread so may be repeating others...

I think that it would be helpful, if when opened all accounts defaulted to everyone blocked from messaging and a reminder being sent after a couple of weeks about changing settings.

I also think that it would be good, if you aren't allowed to message for at least the first 2 weeks after joining.

Yes. And that female and MF couples at least are told not just that filters exist if you get a lot of mail, but that you're likely to get a lot of mail.

Perhaps filters should be set to ‘on’ and you have to chose to open that gates.

I don't think it's a good idea to treat any group of people differently to another.

Advice about filters when joining may be useful.

I think everyone just have the same access to the facilities of the site.
