There and to the left a bit

I can be quite awkward around new people, especially in a group situation, and it takes me time to get comfortable to open up - one on one where I have to talk I'm not so bad, especially if the other person is happy to take the lead.

Depends on the situation I'm okay at work when I'm the alledged expert. Socially is more ticket, I'm fine one to one but groups leave me cold. I actively avoid parties.

I managed about 3 minutes of chat with people at the MLS before they got that "fuck off!" look in their eyes and I had to move onto my next victim.

I'm shit at communicating. I have to draw pictures and then it goes from bad to worse.

Everyone has a story of some kind, most people just don’t realise it.

I absolutely love it when you give someone the confidence just to talk and see how their expressions change as they start to connect the stories together.

Never again will they feel that uncomfortableness when at yet another work training session, the dreaded ice breaker question comes up:

Tell everyone something about you they don’t know

"Are you comfortable chatting to new people, do you relax quickly and can you carry a conversation? "

Nope

As a aspie I tend to be crap at conversations so I lean more towards asking questions which is ok normally but nearly ended badly for me when being interviewed by a nawty villain who wanted me to set up a football academy for his team.

He thought I was dibble!!!!

Depends on the situation and the other person/people. You can pick up their vibe straight away and if there is something I don't like then I find it very hard to be open.

Also, as an introvert, I do take exception to the generally accepted idea in our society that loud/chatty = good and quiet = bad.

I'm not saying the opposite is true but that we prize the talker and overlook the listener

Yes, it's something I'm regularly given positive feedback on, across age groups and demographics. It's rare I'll struggle, and in retrospect it's often more them than me.

It took some work to get to that point, development, confidence, that sort of thing. I can be a situational extrovert if circumstances call for it. I hate it but I can.

Its really hard to find someone you can have a proper conversation with.

I've found as I grow older, its become easier to initiate conversations.

I used to be painfully shy, couldn't initiate any talking to save my life, or if someone spoke to me, I just dried up!

But one day, in a new senior job role, the MD said to me, "you've good verbal skills, so I'm putting you in charge of Sales!".

From that day, I prospered!
