Block button

I've discovered how much my fab experience can be improved by using the block button lately. Hear me out!

Someone on local updates whose status updates are either moany or demanding? Just block, no need for you to be annoyed by a stranger you have no desire to interact with.

Someone who's messaged you but you are not compatible with? Block, saves both of you wasting your time.

I know some people take being blocked personally, but I've found it a really useful tool

I blocked a local couple because of their annoying, moaning status updates, blocked them, now I don’t have to read them anymore.

Im blocked by a gent on the forums having never spoken to him before.. unsure if it was a mistake or not.

Makes me curious as to why if it was intended though.

I use the block button in a similar way OP. My block list is massive.

I don't see the block button as a negative, I see it as another filter.

I only block people I actually know in real life. Can't see the point online, they can just make new profiles.

The block button can be your friend.

If more people used it as the useful tool it is, it would save all the "Boo hoo" messages on threads.

Say no thanks and then block,or just block, job done and no dramarama.

That's the thing though - I used to think it was rude, but now I've come round to seeing it as a useful tool on both sides. Why do you think it's a politeness thing?

I used to use it to block those i wasn't compatible with, until a lady I chatted to at a group social asked me why I'd blocked her, without ever speaking with her - apparently it upset her.

I found out that blocking people because you don't match their sexual preferences means you may miss out on a platonic friendship.

Its not all about sex - apparently.

I like the block button...

I've only once blocked one "lady" because of directly experiencing their conduct on fab. Messaged her, a polite "no thanks" would have been more than acceptable (or silence) but instead got into all a right strop...

If I send a message with photo and that's read and deleted then I often block, to prevent me contacting them again.

I have in the past preemptively blocked people who are looking for specifics (e.g. BBC) to which I don't conform, or openly promoting for requesting drug use (e.g. 420) or "donations".

I have gone to message a profile once or twice only to find I'm blocked, and I can only assume it's because of something I said in a forum chat somewhere along the way.

I’ve become more familiar with the block button lately as well. I now use it when I come across any idiotic, disrespectful or vulgar posts on the forums, as well as those “ghost” profiles with no photos or text who keep popping up in my “Looked at me” list.

I used to worry that I was using the block button too indiscriminately, but fuck it, it’s my choice at the end of the day
