Why not just cook rice & pasta. Don't matter then if you get a little extra water in it. Just a thought

Just use boil in the bag food, you can get it from most camping stores. Or join the forces and get it free.

Personally I'd erect the gazebo for shelter to cook under and say nothing. If question about it not being on your bill I'd expect compassion in terms of the dreadful weather and the necessity to be able to cook. It's only for that purpose. You would hope they would value the custom still turning up as you can be pretty sure they'd have had some cancel .. For how long gazebos take to erect you can always take down after or offer to if anything's said. There's no way I'd pay that without a plea for common sense

We used to use a wind break at the front of the tent. It was the wind driving the rain that was our problem. Add a large brolly because there wont be much wind this week so the rain will just come down like stair rods!!

Keep calm and carry on!!!

Hope you have a lovely time regardless of the weather but there is a warning out for very heavy rain that could turn nasty.

xx

have never been charged for a wind breaker only gazebos so i would use a wind break to square off the porch area and then use the door as a prorch to stop the rain yes you are cooking just outside the door way but the wind break should stop the driving rain from getting food wet with the porch over the top.

I'm also going camping and hadn't even thought about if I'll have to cook my own food (I seem to recall it being mentioned at some point)

We'll probably stick a gazebo up though so I think you should do what a previous poster said and pop one up just for cooking. I'm sure they'll understand. Or get a pan with a lid and a windbreak to stop the gas blowing out!

how big is the tent? we can cook inside and have the side flap up with poles so is well ventilated. We did it in south wales at the same time they airlifted people out cos of the flooding , so we managed to cook in extreme conditions,

if you only have a small one manner you might have to be careful which campsites you choose as some have covered areas you can cook under.

You should be alright cooking in the porch area of an 8 man tent - it should be big enough not to catch as long as you don't use a stand for your stove and you don't flambe your steak
