Life’s what you make it or is it?!

Has your life turned out how you wanted it to or expected it to?

Did you have dreams growing up as to how you saw your life and has it come true?

Did you think you’d follow tradition and get married, have children and have a “normal” life or was that never something you wanted?

Life is about time and inches

You know when you get old in life

things get taken from you.

That's, that's part of life.

But,

you only learn that when you start losing stuff.

You find out that life is just a game of inches.

So is football.

Because in either

life or football

the margin for error is so small.

I mean

one half step too late or to early

you don't quite make it.

One half second too slow or too fast

and you don't quite catch it.

The inches we need are everywhere around us.

They are in ever break of the game

every minute, every second.

On this team, we fight for that inch

On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us

to pieces for that inch.

We CLAW with our finger nails for that inch.

Cause we know

when we add up all those inches

that's going to make the fucking difference

between WINNING and LOSING

between LIVING and DYING.

I'll tell you this

in any fight

it is the guy who is willing to die

who is going to win that inch.

And I know

if I am going to have any life anymore

it is because, I am still willing to fight, and die for that inch

because that is what LIVING is.

The six inches in front of your face.

Wales/ All over UK

My life seemed pretty ideal to me back in 2018, loving wife, lovely kids, close family nearby..

Then last year I lost both parents to cancer and caught my wife cheating on me with a guy 18 years younger than me...

Obviously 2020 has topped this off nicely as well

So no, I didn’t see myself where I am today

Apart from knowing I didn't want the 'normal' life of marriage etc. I had no idea how my life would turn out. But I did want to be a novelist 'when I grew up' - which hasn't happened.

I never knew what I wanted and I still don't.

The only thing I was quite sure about was having children.

I knew I didn't want them from quite a young age.

Now I'm older I know that having a picture in my mind of how life is supposed to be is the one thing that will fuck me up the most.

You can steer your life or not.

Want to make those hard, harder or hardest decisions?

Where its painful 5hen messy and hopefully better at the other end.

My life has turned on a couple of tough decisions and hard work.

Happy where I am now and some things today are ridiculously easy now which without the pain in the past would have been impossible.

Don't get me wrong I went places I was to be honest not ready for but got through.

You definitely need to grasp opportunities as they present themselves

Same , add patience and a bit of timing/ luck but you look hard enough you find luck, it won’t normally just find you. Hard work = 10+’years in a sector normally , and the right sector like pharma or telecom not hospitality !

Manchester (she/her)

I'm not good at it, but I try to take life day at a time. I never really had visions for an adult version of me, spent too long consumed by mental illness and just trying to survive.

Life is about choices made day by day, and hopefully they add up to something meaningful.

Nothing like I dreamed it to be. Not one single outcome! Needless to say... I don’t dream anymore!

I never thought I would have grandchildren that worship the ground I walk on vice - versa.

That's because I never wanted marriage etc I knew that was not for me.

I had zero ambitions when younger and have done ok by pure luck more than hard work and planning.

So I'm happy with where I'm at now and have no regrets.

The only one thing I wanted was to b a mum which I'm grateful to be 6 times over and a grand mum everything else is a bonus along the way! Had some tough times some very tough ones! But never regret a thing as all that has happened has shaped me into who I am now ! Am happy with my lot on the whole! X
