DIY SUCKS!

I'm painting my kitchen and it's making me so angry because I'm just crap at it

I'm sick of things being broken and not being able to fix them.

And the mirrors and shelves etc that need putting up can go fuck themselves as well!

Are you any good or are you like me and just want to cry whilst attempting it?

I’m crap at painting and decorating. I made the mistake once of booking a fortnight off work to decorate a flat I lived in - I should’ve got a professional in to do it though as it was a right mess by the time I’d finished

Yeah it's a waste of money to take the time off work if you're not good at it - I moved last December and hired a painter and decorater - money well spent!

I'm only touching up paintwork and completely fucking it up

God, there must be a nice and kind Fabber that can help you with the shelves and things that is known to you? It's so hard to get someone to do small jobs in the house isn't it. Could you offer free tea and cake for a wee bit of help? Or are you reluctant to invite near strangers in? I would help you if you were near as I'm pretty handy with a paint brush x

shits creek

I've still LOADS to do.

I'm no good at it, I don't know how to fix things, BUT, I give myself kudos for trying.

I have cried a few times because I get frustrated and I all I want is somewhere I'm proud to call my home.

I have thought about it because hiring a handyman for small jobs is actually really expensive.

But its maybe worth the money because Im considering gin already

I've YouTubed the shit out of doing all the things myself but my brain just isn't wired that way and it makes me so annoyed

You should definitely be proud of what you've done so far if you did it on your own x

No Mary, just people who have different skill sets and DIY is outside of those boundaries, in the same way as I use an accountant for my books, a web designer for my sites and a 3rd party for my advertising.

I quite like DIY, so long as it's making something new.

Fixing things is very unsatisfying, because after all your hard work all it is is back to how it was just before it broke.

If you need any advice and tips feel free to drop a DM, lots of DIY has some very basic rules but if you don't know them or have the tools it can be a nightmare x x

Worthing

For painting, ensuring the walls are prepared correctly is the important bit before you even lift a brush. For that I'd recommend a pro, I definately needed one for a couple of my walls as they were quite pitted. The painting part is fairly easy and I can do that. It's expensive but 'trade' paint is recommended for wood.
