"Do you feel the need to achieve something everyday so you feel your time has been spent in a worthwhile manner? Or are you content not to worry about it and just do what you feel like doing on any particular day? I nearly always have a nagging feeling in the back of my head which makes me think I need to 'achieve' something or, at least, feel like I have. Usually this means doing something rather than just being passive (watching TV, reading, browsing the Fab forums)." Personally that’s a big no from me but a massive yes from my much better half. "Achieve something, no. I always make sure I go out and leave the house though. It's never an option to just stay in for me. What will you achieve today? X" I leave the house everyday as I walk the dogs - although at the moment it's really chucking it down so may be sliding on the walk today . I've listed something on eBay already, I've tidied a corner of a table and I'm going to make some dough for a c**e I want to make.

"I need to feel that I've been productive in a day. But not necessarily achieve anything in particular. Sometimes that means getting some fresh air or sat reading a book other days I want to get some DIY done. " I suppose I don't always count reading a book as being productive. I feel I need to have done something to earn me the 'right' to sit down and read a book.

"I've found the over achiever mindset difficult to let go of. I try to achieve things. But I've also reframed achievement" Agree. I find it difficult to let go of the 'doing something' mindset. I should look at reframing achievement.

"Some days are duvet days! Stay in bed or on the couch all day binge watching crap TV! Dont feel I have to achieve every day as that would get me down. Most jobs around the house can usually wait. A day in doors doing nowt is sometimes an achievment of its own as ways pressure to be doing stuff. Stay home in the warm doing chuff all apart from turning tea and coffee into pee! Good day that! " I find it difficult doing nothing without thinking I should be doing something. So a genuine duvet day would be an achievement for me

"Depends on my mood whatever i am doing i can always think of many other things i should be doing and wish was more motivated" I can relate to that so I've started to do small things. Say I want to tidy up the coffee table instead of doing the whole thing I'll do a corner and spread it out over the whole week.

"I remember reading an article about someone quite high up in the Navy that did motivational/mental health talks etc when he left. He said every morning without fail he would make his bed first thing. That way even if he did nothing else of particular note that day he had always 'achieved' something so there was no pressure on the rest of the day " I like that idea. I'll give it a go

"Getting through the day alive and not killing anyone is my achievement at present" Preach I feel like I've accomplished so many things if I wake up every day.

"I make lists, yes I'm one of those people. Getting the majority of lists done is an achievement for me even making lists abouts lists " I need lists otherwise I just forget about stuff. Haven't got a list of lists yet.

A day of urest is so good for the soul now and again! Need to put aside some personal time for yourself. Recharging the batteries is a good thing. Beating yourself up for not doing something puts you in a vicious circle of feeling guilty and then doing more to compensate. People need to chill and regroup just as much as working.

"I like to try and do “something”. Whether that be a load of washing or going on an epic cleaning spree. It all adds up." That sounds like me. Even doing a bit here and there every day adds up

"I agree about need to reframe "achievement"... At work we slog away for weeks on a project and then the managers decide it's a bad idea and abandon it. We've achieved a lot in terms of all the work we've completed but with the crap managers, it's to zero outcome... The way the world is atm, I think there is a lot of huff and puff and we're going backwards..." You have the same job as me!!
