Had a quote to replace my combi boiler today and the guy was full of doom and gloom.

Told me that my current 35kw boiler, when replaced would need the gas flow checking as it’s only being supplied with 22mm copper from the meter.

Told me that the current water flow was 14 so wasn’t that great.

The current boiler has the flu offset so a new one will need some brick work doing for a new hole for this.

He was adamant that Vaillant were the best boilers along with Worcester Bosch. He supplies and fits Vaillant so recommended the ecoTEC plus 35kw based on the flow I get. Also quite quite a high price

Any advice or help on there please?

I’d say get a removable one, then you can stick it up your arse in the privacy of your own home.

Boilers are not really in my wheelhouse? But I would expect that if you wanted a new like-for-like replacement then there would be no need for any extra work needed. Also a new boiler should realistically more efficient than your old one, so you should be able to get more output for the same input.

Baxi 830 has a 12l/min flow rate and the 836 has 15l/min flow rate. Both come with 10 year warranty and filter. Gas supply would depend on distance of boiler from the meter and how many other appliances it's feeding

Pipe size is meant to be important these days... regulations of some sort..

It’s not about the size of the pipe , more the way it’s threaded
