shits creek

Just a quick heads up.

I've not been an amazon member for long, but just received an automated call saying I've been automatically renewed and charged £79.99

I thought wtf?! and almost pressed 2.

Then it struck me.

I don't even know the fucking landline number so sure as shit haven't used it for ANYWHERE.

Quick Internet check and yep, it's a scam alright

Keep em peeled folks.

Had a few contact me, nobody but work and a few family members have my landline number.

One said he was going to cut off my BT internet (I wanted to keep him on the line) so I started to act up about needing to work from home, what can I do to sort it out etc...I eventually told him I’m with Sky and to fuck right off

The dot in the i

There’s one going around telling people they’ll be arrested if they don’t follow instructions too, when I got it they had a voice recording in an American accent

Is anyone else getting the txts saying ‘we meant to send this before’ and ‘unresolved errors with your withdrawal transaction’ too?

I caught a bit of an interview on radio 4 with a man who'd been very cleverly scammed out of £25k. I'll see if I can find the name of the programme

I miss the days when you actually had a scammer at the end of the telephone line who you could shout abuse at these recorded scams are not fun at all.

Imagine being an old person and getting one of those calls. Especially the ones where you are threatened with arrest. Scumbags.

thanks for the heads up.

I had a phishing call from ‘HMRC’ this morning, hardly a well thought out scam. I wouldn’t want to talk to them even if they were legit!

Thank you xx

I've had an email 'from' PayPal recently telling me to follow a link to confirm my details as someone has got in my account. Checked my account from a different device and its OK.

I get that phone call a couple of times a day! I hang up as soon as I realise what it is. I panicked the first time thinking it was one of them phone calls that charges you the second you answer it.

Same thing happened here but I hung up as like you, I don't know my landline and never give it out and my prime membership was paid in May.

I am absolutely heart broken because my Netflix and my sky and my HSBC account are all being cancelled.. But I am OK to meet a hot Russian woman and I'm never going to worry about my erectikn anymore. And I'm so rich because of my win from the Nigerian Prince transferring my millions.

Report them online to Action Fraud.

I reported a Talk Talk scam and they were very helpful.

I had one the other day saying that they had me on webcam knocking one off while watching a well known porn site in my frillies. If I didn't send them Gazillion Bit coins everyone on my address book would be getting a screen shot of me and the video at the same time.

I had to laugh really as it was so pathetic. What kind of saddo dreams these things up. I just junked it but I could see that a lot of people would be very upset by this form of crime and I bet tempted to pay up. I just think, knock yourself one off while you are at it and screw you.

I've had a fair few.

HSBC closing my account - not with HSBC

Sky closing my account - not with sky

Was parked in a bus lane - don't drive

Maybe they should do a little research first... Lol

"There are some dvla ones at the moment too saying you have gone through a bus lane"

I've had that one as well, easy to spot as they don't give you your reg number or location of the incident and I have once hit a bus lane (back wheel crossed the solid line by less than 12inches) and they also supply a photo of the transgression.

The other thing to check for any of these is the senders email address as they often look nothing like you would expect either.

Always ask for which account it's for. If they can't answer, hang up.

I've had this one about 20 times

Even if it was real all my contacts on my computer are all kinky bastards or fakes

If you’re with BT, you can dial 1572 to block the last call made to your landline.
