I’ve had someone look right at my truck and still pull out in front of me. And let’s face it, you can’t miss a 44 ton artic no matter how hard you’re trying to. Not to put too fine a point on it, people are idiots, and if revving the tits off my bike stops some half asleep fool from running me down, well I’ll take that. | |||

The sad truth is that a biker could be on a dayglow coloured bike with headlights on & wearing dayglow leathers and a dayglow helmet with a flashing beacon and you're still gonna get car drivers who don't take the time to look properly before pulling out of a junction. And with electric motorbikes soon to become the norm, imagine how much worse it will be! Not only will there be other motorist pulling out in front of motorbikes but there will be pedestrians trying to cross the roads who don't bother looking because they cant hear anything coming towards them. Electric cars are gonna have the same problems. Drivers & riders may have right of way but will be to blame for mowing down pedestrians who can't 'Stop, Look & Listen for a quiet whine' before crossing. | |||

Thats a common drivers excuse. A bike is narrow enough to be obscured by trees and parked cars even with its lights on. So how can we make ourselves more visible? And if the sound isn't reliable tell me this. What alerts you first when an ambulance is coming? I don't condone ridiculously loud pipes but think on this... I wonder if you'd be so judgemental giving our evidence at a court case involving you and the fatality of someone's son. To effectively argue you have to know both sides. "I've been on the wrong end of that too, sat on the back of my mates bike at a busy roundabout with brakes on, patiently waiting for a suitable gap to pull out, guy behind us saw a gap he thought he could muscle his Vectra into, not bothering to look to check if we were still in front of him he floored it, catapulting me about 25 feet forward, fortunately i flew slightly to the left and landed against a railing and not in traffic, dazed and confused it took me a while to realise the reason the bike was still parked vertically, even though it was not on the side stand, was that the bonnet of the Vectra was wedged between the back tyre & the seat frame. It took 3 people to separate bike & car. | |||

Plenty of times with quiet bikes weaving in and out of traffic I only see them in my mirrors when they're right on me. With a loud bike you hear it before you see it and can actively then be on the lookout.

Without patronising every car driver accidents happen in large part because the car driver hasn't seen the rider. The most common bike accident is a car turning right out of a T junction across the path of an on coming bike. If the car driver is aware that a bike is approaching because he's herd it then the risk of an accident is dramatically decreased. Surely only a fool would argue with that because in my vast experience it makes a difference. You simply don't possess the education to debate me on this subject but please feel free to make yourself look even more stupid than you already have... | |||

I’ve never ridden a motorbike nor actually sat on one! I do get a huge thrill watching them racing and the sounds of them
As a car driver I am however petrified of motorbikes on the road if I see one behind me I always try and move over so they can pass
And I must look both ways about 5 times before I ever pull out ! I was taught by my dad to always be considerate on the roads and to always look more than once

Tbh I’ve only had the one R for a reason, yes it’s up a to u ch on power but it’s also Nearly 20kilos heavier than a 97S & as mine was blue/white I was a little peeved by the “Nice Gixxer” from unknowing twats all the time

I never had any dramas from the rear shock either, have you?"No but they never stay standard long, the first was brand new in 97 before the recall for steering damper & fuel tank, that would shake a bit over bumpy crests & the like but nothing like the 250/350/400 two strokes I cut my teeth on, I had MHRacing rework the suspension which made it a lot better. The Latest is running Ohlins rear & a radial brake Gixxer front end. Pretty much only thing standard is the silhouette

I’ve never ridden a motorbike nor actually sat on one! I do get a huge thrill watching them racing and the sounds of them
As a car driver I am however petrified of motorbikes on the road if I see one behind me I always try and move over so they can pass
And I must look both ways about 5 times before I ever pull out ! I was taught by my dad to always be considerate on the roads and to always look more than once

And why anyone would pay extra to have a non standard exhaust baffles me .." I do agree to a certain extent, Johnny Nova removing his silencer or Cyril 125 putting a hollowed out baked bean can on the back does nothing for me either. However my Slovenian titanium exhaust system (note not just a can) is a thing of beauty & weighs less than a third of a standard exhaust & releases 12bhp on it's own without other mods. So some do it for the right reason, nothing goes on my bike unless it makes it lighter, faster or better handling. Nothing goes on for looks or just because I can.. S | |||

"However it’s not for no reason is it . It’s what they do , they enjoy it obviously . Now I wasent there so never got the chance to ask them if revving there bikes was a necessity or was it just a fun thing to do . It’s what they do , just like you do your running .. Yes it has obviously annoyed you , but they’ve bought there product , someone somewhere will have earned a living from suppling that product , the same as your “ Nike air “ and they are enjoying it .. It’s just annoying you , The simple answer is to just enjoy your day and if when your running you nearly bump into someone just hope that they are not the type to get annoyed easily | |||
