Your way of cooking toast may differ significantly from mine but, my way of cooking toast differs markedly from my way of cooking French toast. I can think of two major differences right off the top of my head.

I'd say french toast has more in common with fried bread.

(I really don't know why I care enough to write an essay about it a 2 in the morning, apart from I like toast including French toast).

Traditionally its stale bread fried in egg with cinnamon, cream, hearbs and spices... A poor mans bread in france.

bread past its sell by. Its actually roman bread it was just the french travellers introduced it to the americans many moons ago.. thats where it got its name.
