I (Luke) don't do a lot of fiction but I'm reading Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad at the moment.

I'm looking forward to getting stuck in to Martin Gilbert's History of the 20th Century.

A New History of Jazz by Alyn Shipton has been calling me too.

I’ve been saving it for this month - a 16 year old goes missing in the woods, 5 friends set out to find her. They aren’t just friends, they are suspects and not everyone will make it home alive... a perfect Halloween thriller full of twists

I've only read one of his: The Child Who. I didnt really get on with his writing style but the story was a really fascinating one.

He’s a new author for me, so I’ll have to see, if the write up / reviews are to go by and it grips me from the start all should be good

I measure mine in years. Pre-covid, I'd get through about a shelf a year, and there are about six unread shelves. This is what happens over time when you buy books at a slightly higher rate than you read them.

That's not counting the maths books. They take far longer to read, and I know I'll never get through all of them. The shelves above my computer are a daily reminder of mortality.

I was pondering this myself. I love a trip to waterstones have a tea and flick through afew See what grabs me within the first few pages.

I received 'diary of a young girl' anne frank, i just cant read it. I love non fiction history as a exploration in person but not in a book
