Just heard this song by Slade on the radio and remembered the outrage at the title because it wasn't in 'English'. This was of course pre text.

Who would have thought that some 40 years later a new generation of shortened words would emerge. Luv it or 8 it?

8 it. Cos it mnz kidz dont lrn 2 spk or rite prpr.

Good for sexting... oops I mean texting... on old type phones. But now I have a superduper phone it's easier to type proper on it.

I didn't mind it all those years ago. But looking around at sites like this, facebook and others where what people write is available to view, be it deliberate text speak, badly spelled messages or the dyslexia that more and more claim to have, it looks like the English language in written form is fucked! Kids will soon think 'wiv' is a proper word.
