How well do you take constructive criticism?

Do you embrace it and take on board the observations made or do you allow your bruised ego to block and prevent personal progression

I take it well... whether or not I follow it is a completely different matter.

Constructive criticism doesn't always equate to personal growth if it's just the other person's opinion you have to go off.

But it does allow you to grow if you acknowledge it. It’s up to you whether you choose to take it on board or not.

Depends entirely on whose giving it.

If it’s offered out of the blue by a stranger I probably won’t take it very well to be honest

As long as it is given constructively, and it is from someone that I respect, then I would take it as intended, and use it to further my inner work.

If I was triggered then I would probably use that as a guide to where that trigger initiated.

Beyond the shadows.

I'd listen to what someone has to say if its constructive. But weather I take it on board or not depends on how well I know the person giving it.

Correct, but you will learn something about the person who criticised you.

It’s only natural that some folk don’t like it whether it’s positive or not. It’s how we deal with that helps us grow

Constructive is from someone who knows me personally and has context. In those circumstances I’ll consider the conversation carefully. If it’s not the above it’s doubtful I’ll give a shit.

I'm my own worst critic, I'm open to criticism as long as it's constructive and not rude. Depends how it's given really, a bit like most things

Generally speaking, I've always thought I'm pretty alright with taking criticism even if it's not meant in a constructive way, but it depends on how strong my convictions are about being good at something. There really aren't many things I would contest, but that 1 time out of 10, I can get defensive.

Totally depends who’s dishing it out. My previous foreman loved dishing out criticism I generally took it then offered to help him pick his teeth up if he didn’t leave me alone.

i see it as a way of improvement and when your driven it only makes you work harder to prove them wrong.

but its very important to look at who is advising you, if they have a catalog of failings themselves i'll dismiss them immediately and remind them of their past errors.

I guess it depends on the context of said criticism (I prefer the word feedback, it’s less negative and easier to swallow) and who is giving it.

If I genuinely feel it’s from the heart with good intentions then I’ll mull it over and probably take it on board.

If it’s just from a mean jerk I’ll probably ignore it and block them or if I’m feeling really mean I’d hunt them down and find out where they live then sew day old prawns into their curtain hens or down the back of the radiator and watch waiting until they go crazy wondering where the awful smell is coming from and move house
