got to be honest i don't understand them but i need to buy one

just moved office and no internet yet (thanks for that BT)

no public wifi in the building we have moved to and no unsecured connections either (i had to check lol)

i don't want a contract as it is purely a short term problem

as you can imagine i am gonna be distraught not being able to pester you all during the day

so whats the best deal for a user that is gonna be online 8 hours a day or so for the next couple of weeks ?

we have a 3 G one. Cost 10 quid a month, a bit like a mobile phone top up. We have no complaints about coverage or service

Best one is 3 network. I have been using one for last 2 years.

Ten pound gives you 1GB allowance.....but 15 pounds gives 3GB. That is a better deal if you online a lot.

Dongle is about 20 pounds i think. They also do a faster one, but to be honest the basic dongle is fine.

Best to check network coverage before you buy one though!

Got a 3 mobile dongle here too, mainly for camping use, providing the coverage is good.

You may have to unlock the standard issue for anything with adult content .....like here !!!

But generally good although a bit slow at times

Always use my 3 dongle in the truck and never had a prob. £10 a month gets everything I need but there are cheaper but slower options.

Bit of a bugger, if you have a BT broadband account at home you can access all their hot-spots for free using your own ID when out and about.

Some of them give you a months worth of useage, some give you gigabytes you can use till it's gone. So it all depends how long you need it for, if you just want occasional use then one without the time limit is good, but if it's for s set time then the time limit ones give more gigs.

I've got two...

And the ones for foreign use... I've had to start labelling them!

Are you going to use bt going forward for your office? Talk to them they should sort a short term solution like a single for free. Then you will also get hotspot use.

We have a vodafone one, works great most of the time. Only problem we have had is this weekend in london at the ibis hotel... It had 3 bars of signal, which is two more than we get at home and still it wouldn't work.

We are sure the hotel was blocking it? They were charging £10 for one nights wifi what was through an orange hotspot, has anybody else experienced something like this because we think its naughty!?

If you have a 3G phone - use the personal hotspot feature.

Does the size of a dongle matter?

When I read the title 'pay as you go dongles' I thought it was a thread about male escorts

If you get 3 you can get all you can eat data on your phone, then connect the phone to the laptop and tether no need to get a dongle

Size of a sky remote is the optimum
