Stay humble dudes, you’re replaceable

The forums and especially the lounge has a very short memory, people come and go and people don’t bat an eye lid, a few may notice but people move on, new people come in and replace the old characters, other still reminisce about the halycon days when all this was Ceefax, but in truth most are only interested in their opinion and whether they got a reply and quote, stay humble dudes, humility is very underrated and a very attractive trait. Today’s newspaper is tomorrow’s fish and chip paper, I think knowing this keeps me incredibly humble and grounded.,

I agree with you to an extent. Many people posting on forums or social media want people to agree with thier opinions. A lot take exception to a differing view and consider it as trolling.

A lot of forum posters ARE irreplaceable though, as they have thier little quirks, humour and originalities x

Makes me laugh when people think the forums cant survive without them then a few weeks later their forgotten.

Ive been here nearly 15 years and see many come and go. We have had some big characters over the years and some people i miss. But there is always flavour of the month people untill someone else comes along and takes their place.

We havent had a big character for along while now i dont even register most people i tend to live in a bit of a bubble these days on fab just posting on threads i find interesting regardless of who has posted them

I mean some leave and return and it’s like Tom Jones just announced a stadium tour (yeehaw!).

Others leave and return and it’s like Basil Brush has announced a new tv series (who??).

I have always enjoyed the forums, both reading them and contributing. I learned fairly quickly that there were a small core of users that seemed to consider themselves as forum royalty. If you weren’t part of the clique you could be frozen out of threads rapidly as they were mainly filled with “in house” comments, jokes and people desperate to be accepted.

I would actively avoid threads started by these profiles as they would predictably turn into suck up fests.

Thankfully it doesn’t seem to be as bad now. A lot of those profiles have disappeared and in general there have been a lot of new, positive contributors and I’m thankful for the forum friends I’ve made over the years.

I would actively avoid threads started by these profiles as they would predictably turn into suck up fests.

Thankfully it doesn’t seem to be as bad now. A lot of those profiles have disappeared and in general there have been a lot of new, positive contributors and I’m thankful for the forum friends I’ve made over the years.

I think those with over inflated egos and that sense of entitlement is apparent through some of the threads and comments
