I was seeing how much they would hurt. I doodled a tiny doodle. It's on my inner wrist, before the inner wrist got really popular with butterflies and names and shizzle.

I was 15 and it was a tiny butterfly.

No reason for it just picked it out of the book.

My first tattoo was inspired by De Niro’s character ‘Max’ in the 1991 version of Cape Fear. I was in awe of the prison tattoos on his chest so I had one done in the same style on my forearm.

My first is a star for each of my miscarriages and a moon for the two times it was twins.

Second one I designed when I was 16 and it's to do with my love of cowboys, country music and all that malarkey.

I actually love tribal sleeve on a man. I was 18 and stupid and got my star sign in tribal tattooed on the back of my neck. I still love the look of it, but I'm annoyed I can't possibly connect it with a full back piece as I don't want more tribal

My parents have a framed picture with a nareative passage describing what I've had tattooed, I would read it and think "That sounds really cool". Over the course of years I guess it got stuck in my head and I had it put to ink. It's a little weathered now though and I would love to have it redone and developed in to a sleeve.

"It's my star sign. But recently they've discovered a new one so I'm no longer a Scorpio "

Its not a recent discovery, the star signs are based on the constellation the sun is 'in' - when viewed from earth- at various times of the year. Because we go all the way around the sun in a year this means the sun airways in a different place relative to the background stars each day at midday, covering 360° of movement. If you divide those 360° into 12 you get 30° for each sign. That division of 12 is arbitrary however and you could pick any number and choose the constellations that suit. The '13 constellation' has been known (and named) for millennium it just happens to make the news every now and then and comes as a surprise to some people. Quite apart from that, due to procession, the alignment of the sun and earth changes to the point that the star signs as calculated by the Greeks (and before them the Babylonians) are all the wrong dates anyway.

Perhaps a tattoo of Sir Isaac Newton to cover your star sign and acknowledge the fact that we no longer need to invoke celestial forces to explain the movements of the stars/planets or attribute supernatural powers to their locations?

Mr
