You ever paid someone a compliment and they took offence to it, where you say something that’s meant from the heart and meant to make them feel good, but they get a bit arsey about it and start asking what you mean by that, then you’re like jeez I was only trying to be nice, but excuse me for being pleasant ?!

Yeah, me neither

Yep. I paid her a sincere and heartfelt compliment on her impressive moustache and the next thing it all kicked off.

No pleasing some people *shrugs*

You seem to have managed to say the one thing that will piss them off, their bugbear, then other people find out and say yeah, don’t say that, they really don’t like it, then you’re Like well d’huh, I realise that now.

Hasn’t happened to me though, someone else mentioned it

I was very complimentary, anyone else would have been all coy and said wow, such a wonderful compliment, but no, not this person, next thing it’s 20 questions, look I didn’t come here to justify myself and to think stuff through.

Just to clarify this hasn’t happened to me, especially not recently.

Do you mean when someone offers a compliment than sticks a caveat on the end of it?

Great figure - for your age

Wow, you're so clever - for a blonde

you tan well - for a ginger

They are insults.
