"No. I think having a national broadcaster is important. To be honest I'm not a massive TV fan and usually stick to Netflix etc .. Every time I watch anything on the BBC it feels very patronising and repetitive. I'd rather not pay for it" True. I see it as a national service whether I use it or not (I don't watch television, I pay my license)

"I don’t watch television at all and have thought about cancelling Netflix’s as it gets little use. Now Spotify is something I do enjoy. Music is what I do to relax. Would quite happily do away with the TV licence " Yes me too. I will look at Spotify

"So happy to watch programmes without being bombarded by witless adverts (even worse on the C4 and ITV players). That's worth the licence fee alone." I’d concur

"It would be nice to have the option, the license fee is getting ridiculous. I’d rather not have access and go without the BBC channels but have the option of a paid for service through the Iplayer and pay a monthly subscription fee for that and choose whether or not I want to get access rather than be forced to pay for it even when I don’t watch BBC shows." Yes exactly! I'd rather pay for what I actually watch!

Would quite happily do away with the TV licence Yes me too. I will look at Spotify " It’s cool. You can pay for it (and download playlists, create your own, listen offline etc.) or use it free (online only with an advert every 5 or 6 songs). You can link up with your friends and share playlists or listen to popular users lists. After a while it starts building a playlist of songs types that is has “learnt” you like

"We have netflix and amazon. Don't watch live TV don't pay a license. If the BBC was a subscription only service, I could see it going under very quickly " Yes exactly It's unfair that we don't have a choice. I don't want to support such an outdated service that keeps questionable people rich.

" I think it’s the bias and the duplicity on the BBC that puts me off but then they are no different from the commercial stations, just a different “wing”. What I object to is funding “big name celebrities” who are effectively glorified civil servants and them then flouting the rules (looking at you Gary Lineker). I think the BBC would be better if it didn’t have “big name” presenters, just “ordinary folk” and spent the money they saved by not have £1M presenters on good programmes.

"Good conversation In think the issue today is it's not as simple of you watch BBC channels. It's more to do with if you watch their content at all - eh through iPlayer, Netflix or any other streaming platform. Infact you may watching BBC content even without knowing it. So if you consume this media through these channels why shouldn't you pay TV licence that funds the creation of that content? " I did not know that, I thought netflix etc had bought the rights to stream it?

It's like the BBC never learn, Zoe ball took over radio 1 breakfast after Chris Evans and killed their listening figures too. So they repeat the process for radio 2. I look forward to her taking over radio 3 breakfast in 5 years time.

The BBC airs the programmes it commissions (and owns the rights to certain things). When you pay for the BBC you pay for them to commission programmes from independent production companies and presenters to present those programmes (when they are of a “factual” nature)

It’s strange isn’t it, it is a national television station but doesn’t seem to represent the values of the nation it serves?

"i think with all the technology we have which every digital tv supplier you have could in some way block all bbc channels if you do not wish to pay a license. but then how do you stop access to local radio and website the bbc provides. the bbc is so widespread it maybe impossible to block everything it does until they become a ppv service"

"When they are paying ridicules wages for there so called stars yes. They need to remember its the tv and the radio that makes them stars. And i wish someone could explain to me how zoe ball is worth over a million pounds a year" Exactly. Her, Lineker and the rest of them need the public's money more than the public needs them They also broke their promise not to charge OAPs for a licence. I hope they're all happy with their pay rises
