Did you back it up?

If so uninstall it and when you reinstall it will ask you if you want to add the backed up data.

This about sums it up - sadly something I didn't know when my phone recently crashed and I switched back to my old one while it was being repaired - lost almost a years worth of messages!!

You need to firstly ensure that you have back up running - if you've not then there's nothing you can do.

If you do/did have back up running then as Testarossa says you should be able to retrieve those messages in the way she describes - the *only* thing you need to remember is *not* run back up on the new device before restoring - if you do then you'll have lost everything already backed up as WhatsApp only saves one back up.

Daily backup should be on by default unless you switched it off

Settings.... Chat..... Chat backup

Thanks I have tried it and not got anything back that I wanted but thanks anyway
