Den of Iniquity

According to a " Survey " apparently only 20% of British families have a Sunday Roast at least once a month .

This , in my opinion is a national travesty!!!!

Do you still have a Sunday Roast people .

And let's have your exact plate of goodness if you do .

Cheers Grumps!!

Northumberland

I (Mr) usually work weekends which is why nationally the Sunday Dinner is dying out. At one time it was the day nobody worked and we were all guaranteed a family day but nowadays that has changed hugely.

Every weekend I am off though I make a point of getting a joint of beef in and making a Sunday dinner with homemade Yorkshire puddings and roasters.

We don't have one every Sunday. And what we have along with the roast usually depends on what meat we are having.

Love roasted parsnips.

Add roasted sweet potato, cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets, stuffing, stand the carrots up in a saucepan with a tiny bit of water and sugar and cook on a low light until the pans black, it’s worth it....

Yeah love roasted sweet potato, pigs in blankets and stuffing.

never been a fan of cauliflower and dislike cheese so that would never be on my roast

Those little extra's would probably take it from a standard Sunday roast to a more 'Xmas dinner'

As a family we tend to get together most Sundays (it stopped over the summer thanks to Covid but has resumed again now)

It's my mum who's most likely to do a full roast when we all go to my parents, and even then it's not every time. But she still does potatoes and veg with whatever meat / main course she's doing.

My sis-in-law might do a pie, or scampi (cos dad loves scampi - he even has that in our local curry house) and I tend to do my signature chili (kisses fingers in appreciation)

Although it's possibly a slightly flawed question - maybe people still get together on Sundays but the food choice is changing?

I make a roast dinner every weekend for the family, I alternate the meat, one week beef, next week lamb but the veg is always the same, mash, roast potatoes, carrot and turnip, honey roasted parsnips, broccoli and a few tinned veggies thrown in too, all with home made gravy, no bisto crap

Not every weekend but when I do it's usually roast chicken (stuffed with a lemon), roast potatoes and sweet potatoes, carrots, brocolli, sweetcorn, gravy (sometimes crispy bacon which has been lain across the chicken). I love cooking a full roast but usually only happens when the whole family comes round.

Do have roast pork chops once a week with baked potato and mixed veg.

Warwick

I probably only have one every few months.

I like them, but I like lots of meals so having 1 meal every week seems a little dull tbh.

Plus, it's not a great meal to cook for just me and the kids (they just waste most of it), so when I get it I order it for delivery, which is great that I can... but not as good as a nice home cooked version.

Sounds lovely.

Not had a roast in months. Keep meaning to go to bar down road. They look lovely.

I do enjoy cooking one though.

Lamb chops

Mint peas

Yorkshire

Carrots

Cabbage

Parsnip and potato

With mint sauce

I usually make a roast chicken every Sunday for my son and I.

And I’ll make soup with the leftovers on Monday

North West

We like them and used to make a roast often but not so much recently. Our son used to call them "old people dinners"

To much time and effort for it to be scoffed in 3 minutes flat by the kids and all the veg left !

would rather cook them something they really enjoy
