"Having been on the end of many ‘no reply’ after sending a message maybe a marker on someone’s profile that gives a percentage of the number of no replies to messges they have been sent could be a good idea. And yes, I always read a profile, consider if I am someone that the profile is looking for, and not just gender, age, location and sexuality but applying what they have mentioned their preferences are before sending a message. Now if we could see that fab member ‘A’ only replies to 2% of messages received I think this would help deter the ‘triers’ the ones who cut and past or send one word messages from bothering in the first place. And from the way i understand it that has to be a good thing. I always have the same reason given whenever I say I think it’s rude to not reply, and that’s ‘do you realise how many messages I get, no time to answer them all’. So if this cuts the amount of messages down surely that’s a good thing. Yes yes I do know it’s in the rules about no reply!!!! Just think something simple like this would cut down the unwanted messages." Look at this another way. How about putting the percentage of messages sent to new accounts on profiles. This would allow people (mostly women I admit) to see who uses a scatter gun "welcome to the site" approach and who is less indiscriminate, that would aid them in their choice of who to respond to

"If a woman receives 100 messages and respond to 50 she has responded to 50% of messages. If another woman receives 1000 messages and responses to 50 it’s 5%. Both respond to the same amount of messages. Which means the poor sod receiving 100 would be inundated. Just saying... It’s difficult for guys on here, no doubt. However, the ‘no reply, no thanks’ is the better option. " A very good point In fact *if* a percentage related statistic were to be given a much better and useful way of doing it would be nicecouple's suggestion of number of messages sent by an individual against how many of those messages received replies. Not that I personally am in favour of *any* kind of statistics being presented at all - if you "get" the site the current set up works perfectly well.

"Filters and block is how you manage messages." I like to get a chat with male and female fabbers off the back of threads so I dont have filters up anymore. When I get messages now from guys asking to 'suck me dry" just delete them

"I think any system / information that helps the way messges are sent / not replied too would help the situation. Certainly needs improving IMO" Why does the current set up need improving though? It's clear and simple - you send a message you either get a reply or you don't. Any kind of "system" wouldn't change anything or suddenly mean you got all the meets you want. As I said earlier the only "improvement" that is needed is an acceptance by those that find it frustrating that no reply means no interest, and only sending messages to those they genuinely think they are matched to

"Dear op As per our profile we reply to every message so that’s us on your 100% new rating scheme but to be honest I wish we didn’t because so many just do not deserve a reply due to the lack of effort they put in. If it isn’t broke then don’t fix it. No reply means no thank you!!!! Best of luck op. T" Agree the men that get complained about obviously have to have a look at who and why they message someone, and thank you for being so polite as to reply to messages to you, well at least the ones that warrant a reply at least

"The only change to messages I would like would be some indication in the inbox that they are on my friends list or we have been chatting I just don’t see the messages I want because they are buried That’s a great suggestion" But we have that with the new inbox system. You can see who you have messaged before and we have the private note option.

We wouldn’t reply if the person wasn’t our type. They may think they fit all the boxes but very few do. However if they asked a question regarding something else other than if we were interested then we may reply. By the way what is a self important fucktard ?

If we get this we will reply , even if they are no match and obviously haven’t read our profile. We send messages regularly without reading profiles and nearly always get replies even offers from people who don’t match. What’s important is the content of a message

Really do you reply to spam ? We want our time to write good replies to the ones that matter , and polite no thank you to the ones who deserve a reply. The ones who send a cock and say “how you doing” or similar nonesemse or anything vulgar will never in a million years get a reply

If in *my opinion* (not that of the sender) the message was worthy of a reply then I would reply - but you know full well the majority of the messages that don't get replies are not of that quality. Either way there is no "system" that will stop the undesirable kind of messages being sent - but I don't see them as an inhibitor to my own interactions on here. Ultimately as a single guy on here you have everything within your own hands to maximise your experience of the site - no systems are needed, it's up to each of us as individuals to find ways to make it work for us, not expect the site to do it.

I have no idea what the majority of messages contain and wouldn’t assume as to what they contain, If there’s one thing I have learned from this place is to expect the unexpected. Any system that fails to improve, to move forward will soon become obsolete and be replaced by an improved service. Since my limited time on fab I have seen many changes and improvements, the addition of videos being one that springs to mind, something that has proved particularly popular judging by the number of videos posted, that wouldn’t have happened if as you suggest no requirements for changes. I find it an odd suggestion.

We're not talking here about general system/site improvements though - but your suggestion for some kind of statistical point of reference as an indicator of whether someone is going to reply or not and it's a "system" such as that which is unnecessary and hardly an "odd suggestion" to suggest it isn't. As I said it's quite simple - you send a message, you either get a reply or you don't - nothing more is needed.

It was and nothing wrong with that - but as has been shown would be counter-productive and probably have the reverse effect to what you were hoping for - a far better one would be nicecouple's one from further up. Either way I stand by what I said about not thinking it necessary, and just accepting that no reply = no interest works perfectly well.
