Breakups in Covid

So looking for advice... Any tips on how to deal with a break up during COVID when the normal things you would do, like surround yourself with friends etc, aren't really possible?

I split from my fiancé a few weeks ago and joined fab again to help with moving on but the lockdown and not being able to do meets etc just means the mental/emotional fall out has been a lot tougher than normal.

Any tips would be much appreciated

I’d suggest to not use fab as a crutch because it can mind fuck you all over again.

Keep your self busy.

Try and chat to as many peeps that you can.

Stay safe and best of luck.

Ahh defo not a crutch. More to pass the time when not busy at the moment but thank you for the 'warning'. I think it'd be very easy to use this to avoid not processing things.

I also allowed myself to grieve.

So many people don't take into account that even if you're the one who made the decision to end the relationship it still comes with grief.

The person may not have died but the dream has, the future you had planned has, the bond, the companionship, etc.

There's no shame in mourning a loss.

I was dumped In April I think it was and in some ways lockdown helped because I had already got used to not seeing him physically.

I came back on here just to chat and it did help to distract.

Defo agree with decorating that will keep you busy no end! The kitchen part can cause more stress than good. I just got my bathroom done and that was painful until it was finished

Having left my house to create a new home in the USA thinking that a big ass project to reconnect to the house may be a good idea but good to know I may need horlicks to help get through it lol

You can meet up with your friends still?

Find a new hobby - one you might have wanted to do a while.

Keep yourself busy write a plan for the next day every night and tick the stuff off as you do it the next day (dopamine release)

Nothing shameful about seeing your GP and getting some medication to help you get over the next few months or longer as covid is enough to send most people into a depression nevermind breaking up too.

Get on a dating site I don't see any harm in speaking to new people if it takes your mind off the situation. Also puts a perspective on the fact your still attractive and your still attracted to others.

My relationship of 16 years ended in April and if anything covid helped, I just immersed myself in finding my own place and finding myself again although I am a person that's happy in my own space etc

Sorry to hear OP, break ups are painful enough at the best of times.

I'd say take time to take stock and have a clear out. Make lockdown work in your favour. See it as breathing space. You don't need to bounce into another relationship or hook up.

And maybe get in touch with any friends you've neglected, and make plans for AL/AC(After Lockdown/After Covid)

My break up had nothing to do with fab and my verification was related to previous meet I had when I was on here about 4 years ago.

Please do not use this as an opportunity to run public commentary on myself or my situation. All I was asking was for ideas to help.
