"I've managed to avoid online meetings all my life and very happy to do so but I have an interview coming up via MS teams. I have a cranky mac lappie that sulks if I open facebook or outlook and despite calling and emailing, I haven't got a reply from the recruitment centre about these questions so I'd like to ask you clever lot. Do I need to download anything? Do I presume I will get a link to open on the day?" You don't need to download anything, it streams from the Web if you don't have an institution or business Teams account or the Teams app. The video quality etc will depend on your bandwidth. I live on Microsoft fucking Teams right now  | |||

"Yes, you will get a link. There's also a link to "Learn More About", or wording to that effect. I found it invaluable to read in advance of my first meeting." Thank you. The job is client facing so I won't need to use teams in the future but not being a luddite on the day will be cudos. | |||

MS Teams is actually easy to use but a familiarity session would be useful in advance. Maybe arrange for a friend to video chat with you.
The recruitment company will send you a link and as you are a visitor to them then you will 'wait in the lobby' until invited into the meeting.
I have recently done a recruitment scheme via Teams and I would say that unless you look at the camera you will not appear to be making eye contact on the screen with the other people. But, when you look at the camera then you cant see the body language from the other people...so all of this can be a bit distracting but don't let it put you off.
There are also functions such as blurring the background behind you. This may be handy if you haven't got a plain wall to sit in front of for the call.

If so you can download the MS Teams app there and do the interview that way - only difference is the screen size and that's your end only - so depends how much you want to "see" of the interview " I had considered that but I'd have to hold the phone to my face and the squinting through my varifocals is not the greatest interview impression! | |||

Rest it against something (book or similar) on a table in front of you?" Screen too small to see comfortably with the angle I have to tilt my head to get focus through my bloody varifocals! Chances are I'd knock the table and the phone would fall off too. | |||
