People with money

So why are some people detrimental to those with money. Twice on two threads today people have basically been called wankers, owning private number plates on a nice car and owning a home that they let out.#

We here constantly on these threads and again today about people living on benefits. So surely we should all congratulate those that do well instead of saying their either wankers or "have to much money"

Had the same argument on another Forum with someone that was slagging off footballers the other day.

Just told him if he could drive an F1 car, play golf like Tiger Woods, or play football, he'd take the money, hide the taxes and quit whining about his shitty low-paid job (it was his words that he was in a shitty, low-paid job, BTW)

It's a symptom of the society we live in, unfortunately.

About the only thing I like about Septics, they applaud success, rather than being insanely jealous of it !

I suspect with certain types of people thats the same thing.

I am happy with the money I have so don't feel the need to insult others for their lifestyles, but some might.

I don't have much money, but work hard for it. If others have money and work hard fair play.

I do find those with a silver spoon who have no concept of money and hard work hard to tolerate. Normally due to the fact they lack vommon sense. But i won't slate anyone for it, as its not their fault if they ate born into it.

we live in a society in which talent is rewarded.

whether it be the ability to kick a football, read an autocue or make multimillion pound deals, you get rewarded. obviously the exception of the rule is modelling as no matter how its put to me, i cannot see wearing clothes as a talent.

but if your talent is sitting on your ass, drinking, then you get waht you deserve in life.

dont be jealous, be disgusted with yourself for not trying harder.

I know two people with A LOT of money. One is pretty unassuming about it and you'd never know he was so wealthy. He does tend to quietly help people out now and them.

The other is in the pub going on about how much his watch or his shoes cost.I tend to think he's a bit of a wanker

so to answer the question it depends and its not based on their net wealth but their attitude to it

Why are these forums so judgemental? If people on benefits are not being slated then it's people with money.

Why not try a little live and let live for a change? Look to your own lives and what is wrong there, stop putting others down to make yourselves feel better!

If it's money earned from drugs or dodgy dealings then they are wankers.

If it's from hard work and well earned money then good on em!!

I know people that are very well off and others not so fortunate. They are good people, not like the 'loadsa money or 'scuse me, I seem considerately more richer than you!' type.

Money doesn't make the person, personality makes them who they are.

Yes especially if they have worked hard to get what they want and don't go around bragging about what they have. For example, I pay a mortgage on my house but would never go round saying I am a home owner like some do because until the mortgage is paid, they are not are they, so I don't understand why they think they are above those who live in social housing, as that is something I get at work at all the time

There are lots of wealthy people where we live.

To see a lot of them walking down the street you wouldnt think they had any money, they are just ordinary people.

Nice friendly, down to earth people.

Often its not the wealthy people who are stuck up, its the middle classed people or people who have bought their council houses.

I have a private plate that my wife bought for me (cheapest price available btw!) For my 30th birthday. To cheer me up, having just been paid off from good paying sales job, and was lucky to be working night shift packing computers in boxes 12hr shifts and taking overtime, just to get by.

The number and letter spelled my first name and MD at the end which is surname. One of my workmates slagged me off saying was the MD For managing director!! "You'll never be that! You prick!"....at that point it stung so bad that some asshole who does not know me could make a judgement like that.

Today I am MD of "my own" but very small business, I am not rich, far from it....feck still struggling with mortgage etc. BUT I am still the same person that was throwing computers in boxes for 12hrs a night. And every time I look at that plate it reminds me of two things, 1. The sacrifice my wife made to buy the gift. And 2. The asshole who actually spurned me on to work hard to prove him wrong. Now if I was ever to meet him I would thank him. Might be wanky in some people's eyes....but hey each to their own. I don't judge people by anything other than their personality. All it is is jealousy, and I agree that all the 'professional' threads are an envy thing.

If people have money or they work for it then they can spend it on what they like. Instead of being bitter, then people should do something about getting what they want.

I work hard to get where I am, and have a lot to lose, and have got my fingers slight burnt in the past.

Hence I am very careful nowadays when choosing a potential life partner.

He must be at least my equal in terms of social and financial standings.

This way, he is unlikely to hook up with me for the little money that I have.

Interesting thread. I think perceptions have changed in society dramatically as to whom is rich and whom is poor. Mainly due to a society that is encouraged to live beyond their means and borrow here and there for a fun and exciting lifestyle. Pretty much what has gotten the country into the insanely large debt hole that we are in.

And on the private reg thing. You can buy one for £150 and then nobody knows how old your car is #keepingupwiththejones #savingmoney

My grandma used to say 'I can't be doing with folks that get on'

Sadly I think that is often adopted by a lot of people today.

A lot of the marking of the lines is done by the 'have nots' as opposed to the 'haves'.

not quite as bad as that but i was turned down for my 6th form because i was old i wasnt clever enough and to look for a job at the local .

at 46 i am now semi retired and frankly people can call me all the names under the sun but i worked bloody hard to get where i am and have given, in the last 20 years, about 250 people good employment.

We don't know anyone who would be envious of people who have lots of money, because we don't know anybody who wants lots of money and the work, work, work, stress, stress, stress that goes with it. But we do know lots of people who think the huge gap between rich and poor in this country is obscenely unfair and who dislike rich people who shaft the poor to get even richer.

Ive laughed at a few people who bemoan rich people or those who are better off.

Without those rich people and their ideas and power plays, the economy would fail.

All companies employ people and last time I checked, those companies were started by people with BIG ideas and goals.

What I do hate is the political elite such as Tony Blair and every Eurocrat that have never, ever worked hard once in their life or had to fend for themselves but are given cash by the tens of thousands.

Tax free.

Not sure you quite thought that statement through. Werent some of these 'rich people' and their ideas that sent us into the worst economic slump since the great depression?. The self styled masters of the universe who thought that cutting and dicing debt from sub prime mortgages was a great idea; and the complext web of IOU's that banks hold.

I have a convertible private number plated plane and I sit in it and get pished whilst my paid pilot drives it and the sexy maid pours my next drink. There are those who object to the fact I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I agree with them, it should have been gold

"Private plates on a car are good if they fit the make, model etc of the car and can add value to it.

Peoples names on car regs' are silly, how many folks on here shout the persons name and laugh as they look around to see who shouted them?

Just me then?

Best plate i've seen on a MoPar Artful,

it was a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T

D G E

4 2 6

think it's abroad now, was up for

45K

D G E 426 X

That Charger was sat in a museum for years before it made out on the roads and I've seen it in the tin, pretty damn tasty too! "

Yes it was very tasty, even if it had a reconditioned lawn mower engine, let alone the mighty HEMI. lol

lad i know and used to go to the footy with set his own business up about a decade ago....

he sold one arm of the business for £63m and if he wanted could sell the rest for over £100m.....he doesnt want to though....

he now owns a football league club, lives in a nice house nearby and drives an aston martin and goes to away matches in a helicopter (as its quicker).....but still gets his hair cut at local barbers and gos drinking in the same pub he has done for 25yrs....doesnt get any grief....but alot of respect from everyone as he now employs 300 people direct and many hundreds more indirectly

i see him regularly and he still has a great attutde to life!

Indeed not - a good parent in my mind is somebody who does what they can to nurture their kids within their means and it does not mean the kids have to have all the mod cons.

The banks are not full of the people I mentioned ina good light. They're like Tony Blair and co.

Given high paying jobs on the back of what?

The banks are very secretive in their operations, not even their own people know the full extent of a damaging loss until months later.

People like Richard Branson are not those people.

I suggest you read the Tom Bower unathorised biography of Branson. Might give you a better insight of the real Richard Branson - not the one he spins in the press.

I have always found the ones who have REAL money are fine, they have nothing to prove to anyone, they can afford to be nice...its the arsoles on the way up who think they have money who are the worst..

If they have good, bloody good for them..they have probably earned it

"So why are some people detrimental to those with money. Twice on two threads today people have basically been called wankers, owning private number plates on a nice car and owning a home that they let out.#

We here constantly on these threads and again today about people living on benefits. So surely we should all congratulate those that do well instead of saying their either wankers or "have to much money""

It's probably those on benefits that are shouting wankers...

So that is where some of my tax avoidance money goes! I do hope that's the monaco plate you are using mon cheri. If not use the cayman islands one.

I never objected to the fact you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth. I always felt you deserved the platinum.

To go with the card.

Count me out of that then as only do it to those who deserve it i.e. look at me, I am rich as opposed to those who have money but don't shove it in people's faces. And I would love a personalised number plate but its no big deal that I don't have one nor can I afford one, have more important things to spend my money on

We dont care how much money someone has or how they chose to spend it, its theirs at the end of the day.

As long as they dont use it as a status symbol and a vehicle to look down their noses at others..or try to make them look small.
