Would love to give my time over at xmas , re serving xmas dinner to the homeless etc, but cant as yet find one local to me.

as for reasons, well i dont do xmas as i find it depressing as i dont have a big family around as we have lost alot to illness.

Reckon if im helping some poor soul out there, i will be counting my blessings instead of feeling sorry for myself

Yes i do, i work with two mental health groups. my reason for doing it is because i get alot of satisfaction. I used to be a volunteer basic english tutor at a prison when i was younger

If you go along to your local church or contact a local homeless charity, they will often be prepared to offer you transport.

My vicar would let you use her spare room for a few nights while you were offering to help

You dont need to locate a national charity to just offer to help, charity begins at home as the saying goes x

A good place to look is at your local library - all sorts there from just keeping old people company to clearing canals or woodland - I've looked a few times

I do volunteer work, and work full time, the thing I find is that it's sometimes the busier people who volunteer.

Why do I do it, want to put something back into society - improve outcomes - and to be honest I get as much out of it as I put into it. Over the years it has also given me the chance to do things I wouldn't in my day job.

Anyone thinking of doing it - go for it, there will be something that you will find interesting and it is appreciated.
