Mindfulness is a start . It teaches you to be aa compassionate with your self as you are with others. Which is always a great way to begin

Not pondering what others think and being the person you want to be. We become what we choose to be, despite all the excuses in the world some have.

You are who you are. There is something special in all of us.. you might not like a certain something about yourself.. thought process or wishing something was different.

But when you learn to be happy in yourself others see it and you shine

"How exactly does one go about that?? "

As another poster said, it has to start with accepting yourself.

I think an important part is not comparing yourself to others and concentrating on the things you like, or at least don't dislike, about yourself.

Try to be positive and not self critical.

It’s when you realise you love imperfection and find beauty in others then realise it’s in you too. We can’t be everyone’s cup of tea but why would you want to be... find your inner peace with who you are x

"How exactly does one go about that?? "

You have to learn to recognise your true essence of self first - this is not a bad place to start:

La la land

Everyone's path to self acceptance is different. Learning to accept oneself is hard work, and I will often fall into negative thoughts but that doesn't mean all that hard work was for nothing. Each time I get stronger and stronger, something I tend to forget sometimes

stop being a people pleaser.

this means doing things for others that doesnt deserve it.

this includes people you work with. let them pick up the boxes instead of you. run around instead of you.

all the time your doing things for others you'll get no respect and been seen as a fool.

look after number 1.

do not go against yours rules to please others.

anyone who disrespects you, gossiping etc get rid of them they are toxic and usually have a string of broken relationships and failures.

walk tall, stand up straight dont look down.

project this is me and the rest can go do one.

do not talk down or mock yourself just to get laughs from work collegues or friends.

learn to say NO to others. very important is your time. more important than theirs.

because im a man i do not bow down to women. on here just because the numbers are against me i will not be a white knight or simp to them.

if it works against me fine, im not worried that just means those that are no good for me in the first place stay away.

only keep those around that have a use for you.its you first always.

soon as everyone sees your not putting up with there shit, you gain respect and will have more time for yourself.

love yourself. do things for yourself.

do not be moulded to please others.

my life has been much better with less stress since i stopped helping and pleasing others and worrying what they think.

fuck em!

Strange as it sounds all my body confidence came after I had my children, before I was constantly battling myself to look better and I was never happy. When I had my 3rd and last child I just stood back looked at myself and thought, you know what this is me now... The hubby loves me and still fancies me after 13years and 3 kids so just be happy with yourself. what can I say... It worked

For me it was due to personal life events and the realisation that life is precious and far too short, so I could accept myself or waste more years wishing this and wishing that.

Absolutely this!

Learning how you became who you are can help. I learned a lot by working in a mental health environment as I became aware of the many different relationships we develop from birth to now and how these impact on our self-esteem. This isn’t to give you excuses for negative behaviours but understanding these can help you to accept yourself and eventually love yourself so others can too

I think it comes down to the acceptance of yourself and actually not worrying about what other people think. Because quite simply you are just you and there is only one of you

"For me it was due to personal life events and the realisation that life is precious and far too short, so I could accept myself or waste more years wishing this and wishing that."

This.

I used to think why aren't I like that or doing this. But if I did some of those things or tried to be like others I didn't enjoy it or just felt uncomfortable.

Due to mental health issues and personal life circumstances one day I just thought 'no it's not me'. I don't want the 'exciting' life as it does me no good.

Part of it was actually thinking do I really want to do this or just doing it because it's what people or society expects.

Quiet, routine, stable is what suits me - with something a bit extra. It has taken me a few years to get to where I am today and it's not without it's ups and downs but I am much more, not happy, but content.

"How exactly does one go about that?? "

You find something or some thing's that you enjoy doing ,that you yourself look forward to ,wether it's going to the cinema..a game ,a gig , the gym ., charity work .whatever it is ,you need to find something that gives you a personal sense of enjoyment and a feel good factor ,once that arrives everything about you will feel contentment in yourself ,

If everyone decided 'fuck everyone else' and put themselves first all the time, the world would be a horrible place.

I ve never achieved it but I have decades of brain washing so to speak. The good thing is that I do love what I can achieve for others through my work...I can make dreams come true and the customers smiles make me smile..but only through my work.

If we all ate and drank the same things, we would all still be different shapes and sizes. Be you, love your body and live your life. We only get 1 chance. Be happy Tad deep I know, but life is way to short to be anything but happy x

i know i rub people up the wrong way and come across as aggressive.

you see i had years of bullying and seen the way people are in and out of the workplace.

my experiences have allowed me to speak to people on a one to one basis about overcoming problems life can throw at us.

via my twitch channel i speak to people and those that wish to speak privately and ask for help i can do as well.

its only when you stand up for yourself and place you first life changes. not straight away but people do in the end take notice that you are not to be taken likely or advantage of.

what people need to learn is to careless. i dont mean do your job badly, i mean be less involved if it doesnt have a benefit for you.

be less available, stop always being on the end of the phone, stop being a taxi service for someone who can pay to get one.

when you make changes in your life that show you matter more then you are in control.

learn to say no to the boss. anything you dislike its a no.

say no thanks with a smile

if you are finding the people around you are just there because your their servant then you need to get rid of them. they are toxic and will not let you rest.

stop being a human doing.
