Who likes a bet now and again ?

I appreciate most people lose more than they win long term as you never see a poor bookie.

But in the spirit of glass half full What's been your Biggest win ?

What do you find is the best phone app for a small bet now and again.

Love a bet, I won £2.78 yesterday on Mo Salah getting a hatrick, a bit more if he hadn’t already scored two goals

but the way the match was going I thought another penalty was on the cards, so I knew he’d definitely take it.

I put £20 in my account at the beginning of the season to try and double it, means I can watch matches I have no interest in who’s going to win and be interested in the game. So bet anywhere between £0.50 to £2.50 on certain bets.

The most I won was on Liverpool 4-0 win against Barca, I knew they needed four goals and could possibly do it, the odds were good for a 4-0 win so £250 better off

In general I usually get to the end of the season up on my bets

first time was ever in a bookies was when i walked in for an interview

some of the money people used to bet was ridiculous but of course people are entitled to do what they want with their money

one guy used to go to a shop on his way to work every day and bet £5k

One guy rang our shop to place £100k on a world cup game

did a couple of bets when left, a couple of accumulators and was fortunate when both came in and won about £200 each time but never got into the habit

apart from that would be occasional bet on the national

I worked in a bookies, briefly... They thought I was weird because I didn't have a bet on the National... It's not a road I want to travel

gambling leads to debts.

that causing mental problems and ive seen friends put their wages on a stupid horse or put it in one of them machines.

its a worry that betting shops are everywhere and also flooded tv and online with adverts.

its too accessible and people have addictive natures.

its time to tax it again and get money in to help recover from the covid debt

Sports betting my hobby..

Would rather go into a shop than use any phone app( far too easy to lose on apps)

One tip ..don't bet on anything the bookies want you to..ie": accumulators,horses, trebles..etc.I prefer sports with only two outcomes..like tennis,snooker,cricket,.for example today's cricket , Australia are evens..50% chance of it being Australia..why back a fav horse at evens with possibly ten other outcomes..small stakes are fun bets,all your money on means you'll lose eventually.

Bit of a generalisation, I'd say that it's more an issue with your friends who are prepared to put all their wages on a horse than betting itself.

If it wasn't betting they'd find another way to waste their wages.

I set myself a small limit that I can afford to lose and when it's gone it's gone (no mental issues, no debt)

I'd rather have £5 on a football game than smoke(which I never have)

Appreciate we all have opinions but you can't stop something because 1 or 2 % are stupid.

Ps I bet you £5 I haven't got an addictive nature

gambling can be an issue for some in its different forms but also many enjoy it

i used to have a slot machine problem but through a friend managed to solve it

i remember seeing a program about people on the dole and one guy walked into seven different bookies on his way home after collecting his dole

have noticed (and dont know if just because of covid) lot of the betting company ads on tv being about sensible betting, taking breaks, setting time limits etc

think its down to the individual to manage and should not take away something which many enjoy

the same with booze and smoking
