The odd thing is.... all the sings said you were going to be right.

Before getting ready to go to the pub I nipped to the shop to get some fags and also bought 3 scratch cards... it seemed a lucky thing to do. I won on 2 cards and not on the other, so I saw that as a sign the score would be a win 2-1. I won £10 on one card and £4 on the other. So I logged onto William Hill (as I still had winnings from the World Cup on there and bet on England 2-1 and Rooney (10) and Gerrard (4) to score in the 90 minutes.

Just shows all this superstitious crap is bollox!

Really enjoyed the game though, especially the first half. The extra 30 minutes were nail biting and penalties are always edge of the seat stuff.

Got toally soaked at the pub and needed to come home as I was freezing when I went outside for a ciggie.... and I am sorry if you are the guy I chucked most of my drink at when whatzhisface took a shot at goal at 32 minutes in. Great atmosphere though.

Well done lads.... gutted but loved every minute.

You were right to a point, England were 2-1 up on pens and Rooney and Gerrard had scored!!!

You were just too tight to buy the other 7 scratchcards which would have told you the Final score

Yes no longer get excited about it and just watch.with interest. Hopefully the flags will be down now.

In fairness they played some good stuff in the first half. But our lack of ability on the ball was clear. We ground out results to get through the group and were very unlikely to progress past the quarters. I agree though Rooneys link up play at times looked fair but everything else was too much for him. He looked unfit and huffed and puffed throughout. Welbeck will have gained invaluable experience. Young disappointed. Terry, Parker and Gerrard impressed in parts.

Happy with Hodgson though his double substitutions were brave and effective although a bridge too far against Italy. Personally I'd have taken Stuart Pearce and instructed him to hit pirlo in the first minute knee high, both footed tackle and direct the stretcher personnel to row f to tend to him there. Him being out the equation we may have reduced their embarrassing possession and pass completion if nothing else. The lads gave it there best, we're miles behind the flair teams and seem always likely to be so

As heartbreaking it is to agree with everyone about lack of flair i have to admit we were woeful at best. Would anybody in the England team have the thought to take a penalty like Pirlo ? When he did that my husband even smiled and said "world class"
