80's themed party

Jump to newest

So this is sort of off back of another thread, after reading about retro party food.

Hopefully in January, will be having an 80's themed 50th birthday party (not mine obviously) I've got my outfit sorted but would like suggestions for a woman's 80's costume. Also, I'm in charge of catering, and was going to already the cocktail hedgehog, what other 80's party food could I do?

All suggestions welcome

There and to the left a bit

Day glo rah rah skirts and leg warmers is the way to go surely?

If there's Twiglets don't let Princess Peach at them until I've had my share.

Think garlic bread was an 80s phenomenon wasn't it?

Rah Rah skirts and leg warmers are good choice, thank

There should be plenty twiglets for all was also planning on doing vol au vents, but with slight twist of using filo pastry.

You probably right with garlic bread, just I'm a bit young to remember the 80's

I do check those, I do like a fair bit of 80's music. I have a friend who will be dj, he's pretty decent.

Shall definitely mention the outfit though

Or one of the Heathers from the movie Heathers - shoulder pads, bright colours and scrunchies aplenty

The sister from Ferris Buellers Day Off - curly hair and leg warmers

Speaking of curly hair and leg warmers - Flashdance!

Jane Fonda or Jazzercise outfit

I had another one but forgot it! Fun topic!

That's a shame, I was going to suggest mismatched fluorescent leg warmers. Just the leg warmers.

However, any Banarama outfit from the cover of one of their 80's singles should do. Food wise, arctic roll, black forest gateau and scampi. A few pots of Sobranie cocktail cigarettes will also add to the ambience.

Haha, I shall keep that suggestion for our weekend getaway

Great catering suggestions though! I'll be a busy man with baking

Food was great in the 80s, sometimes glowing in the same neon colours as your clothes. We had stuff like cheese fondue, shrimp cocktails, curried eggs, different hedgehogs (cheese, sausages, olives & pickles) and trifles and alcoholic jellies.

Great music and either New Romantic style or Bon Jovi/Van Halen leather trousers and white t-shirts
