Coma...The special effects stick with you after the film.

The Beyond...why didn't anyone think of this alien storyline 'twist' before now...

In the tall grass..great time travel type film.

Dark Star was John Carpenter’s first film, made while he was still at college & most of the cast were college buddies & it was co written (IIRC) with the captain.

Made for about $60k

Watch it with that in mind & it’s a great film.

Event Horizon, Fifth Element & Moon are top of our SciFi tree.

I was about to post this one myself! Such a great film, the blu-ray of the Director's Cut is essential. Rufus Sewell is great in the lead, William Hurt and Jennifer Connolly in support roles. A mix of sci-fi and 50s noir. One of my absolute favourte sci-fi films.

Stalker - not a thrill ride but a beautiful film. Same director as the original Solaris but for me the better film, features some beautiful shots.

Scanners / Videodrome / eXistenZ / The Fly - Cronenberg's films veer towards horror but these four all have sci-fi elements. Videodrome is superb but not for everyone.

World On A Wire - Dealt with virtual reality back in the 1970s. Originally screened in two parts as it's over 3 hours long so maybe best viewed as a 2-part drama.

1984 - the 1984 film version starring John Hurt.

The Book Of Eli - underrated post-apocalytic film.

Dredd - *not* the Stallone version

"Some really good series on as well. Loving The Expanse, Altered Carbon, Away, Another Life, nightflyers

Love some of the big franchises - star trek, the original star wars films (and rogue one), stargate, terminator 1&2, Alien / Aliens, battlestar galactica

As well as some good standalone films like event horizon, the Martian, interstellar, gattaca"

Altered carbon has just been cancelled

Yes it has, was gutted to hear that

Also watching The Boys, which is I suppose a superhero thriller, but they are genetically altered by a mystery drug, so that kinda counts?

I'm really enjoying the boys, love the alternate versions of the superheros we've known for years and let's be honest, if people had super powers they probably wouldn't be as we'll adjusted and virtuous as they are in the big franchise films

Equilibrium is such an underated classic. Philip K Dicks books are responsible for some awesome films, blade runner, minority report, total recall and many more.

I don’t see the appeal in superhero films, not slagging them off, just not for me. However ‘the boys’ is fantastic and I should hate it, but if I like it, it’s got to be good for a subject that would normally bore the pants off me
