Has anyone braved the cinema or a dodgy asian copy to see this yet? What did you think? I was extremely disappointed. Big explosions and a time travel gimmick to cover a lack of plot and character development is my take on it all. Such a disappointment.

That was 2.5 hrs of my life!!?

I came out of the cinema looking distinctly dazed.

I thought it was overly complicated and clever cinematography gone mad.

The right place

I saw it last week. It’s trying to be too clever in the premise but as well as losing the plot I found I didn’t care about the characters that much. There were some bits in it where you go! Oh! That’s good. It’s worth watching but it’s not going to be a classic.

When the described it as ‘bond in acid’... that’s when it put me off to be honest. I thought at first that it was a sky Atlantic series.

I (Luke) thought it was awful. The characters are two-dimension and don't develop in any way. I didn't feel like I knew anything about them. The plot didn't make any sense. I literally didn't care about any of the people or what any of them were doing. I felt no tension at all during any of it.

I thought it was complex for the sake of being it rather than because it made for a better story. The time-twisting angle was interesting but Nolan' s thoughts seemed to be "it would be interesting if we did this..." and "it would be interesting if we did that..." so he shoved these ideas into a fairly weak plot and didn't care whether it made sense or not as long as it looked spectacular and he got to use all his ideas.

There are are complex films that are great, but complexity doesn't make a film great by itself, even if you add a quirky time-twisting aspect to it.

I have been trying to think of any redeeming features and I am failing. I thought it was a triumph of style over substance.

Dubai & Nottingham

On my list as I like his work - the prestige, inception - but also like the idea of story in reverse ! Not sure I’d watch at a cinema though

I really liked it.

Lots in it that you could easily miss though. Really had to pay a lot of attention.

Thought it was much better than Inception.

Cinema was fine too.

I went to a Showcase Lux.

Big leather reclining chairs, lots of space between seats and really good distancing in place.

It felt much safer in there than being in a restaurant last month.

I just came back from seeing this.

I loved it!

The kind of film that you have to pay attention to and listen to what each character says. It's also the kind of film you might have to watch a few times to get it all.

Great visuals and fascinating seeing how it all fits together in camera.

I lasted 10 minutes. Very disappointed. Would rather watch repeat episodes of Dady Army to be honest. More enjoyable.

Personally I love it. It’s complex and requires a repeat viewing but it’s mind blowing, slick and tense.

It’s not Nolan’s best work but even then, it’s still some of the best, intelligent sci-fi out there

I think I'm in the minority, but I loved it.

You have to disconnect from worrying about trying to figure it out and just go with it, and then it starts clicking into place in the later half of the film.

If you try understanding it too soon it distracts from noticing all the little things that are important later.

I liked it, but think I need to watch it again as there's reasonable amount to get your head around.

Watched it twice and still none the wiser but maybe that’s just me. Doesn’t live up to the hype ( better than bond ? ). I watched Clint Eastwood in The mule last week and enjoyed that.
