Based on 'comedies', it seems most US humour has to be blatant slapstick type 'funny', in order to be humorous. The more sophisticated UK humour seems largely over their heads, and they largely don't get it, or view it as amusing because we're quirky.

Funny how we're so different, but at least we have had stations such as BBC that have held TV standards higher than much of their trashy stuff.

she didnt know any and the interviwer couldnt help her so she answered by saying she could never pronounce 'james blunt' but now she could in the most terrible english accent...

'Friends' is/was excellent, and it takes a lot for me to say that about any US sitcom as I usually find them as dull as dishwater. Quite like Ray Morano though ('Everybody Loves Raymond') and the guy in 'My Name is Earl' is pretty funny too)

Well 'American Humour' is terrrific. Just a bit different to 'British Humour' in the same way we both speak English but a tad differently. OK very differently!

MASH, Rowan & Marins Laugh In, Friends, to name but 3 of my favourites are just as hilarious in their own way as anything produced here. And its not true to say they don't 'get' our humour. BBC America is a Pay per View channel and broadcasts many very popular British shows there.

Now German humour ......
