I think there has been a shift into what 'swinging' is. The respectable nature, rules and entanglement seem to be a blur. Also believe social media has probably shaped the way people now _iew it, hence the bespoke dedicated swing sites are now categorised 'sex' instead of what it actually is. I used to use ok Cupid (dating site) for sex. That's a dating site but i was using it as a 'sex site'. It's much easier to get sex here though.

There is quite a mentality shift between many using the forums and most that don't using it for hook ups. That attests to personality types that use forums though. Often across any hobby.

I think as with many things in the world, the site has evolved and there is enough people in each camp for it to be used as both these days.

Again there is no black and white answer. Society has changed with regard to the rights of women. Women are more independent and have more money than in the past. In terms of gender attitudes toward other genders that still depends on the individual to a great extent. Laws change quicker than minds. I still see couples where the male thinks that he is an owner and is actually loaning the woman out. Then again I see women that like to see it that way too. As long as it isn't happening to me or in the workplace it's all well and good.

Again there is no black and white answer. Society has changed with regard to the rights of women. Women are more independent and have more money than in the past. In terms of gender attitudes toward other genders that still depends on the individual to a great extent. Laws change quicker than minds. I started off using fab as a place to get information about clubs - as I’d just discovered clubs. Then I found the forums. Then I found great friends on the forums and in clubs.

I think for most people, like me, fab evolves.

Yes, there is a hugely social side to the scene, friendships formed, all that goes with that, but the difference between swinging and other friendships is the sexual element, surely?

That said, some people come to fab looking for NSA hookups, and that's fine. What's not fine - on either side of the debate, to my mind - is pushing your way of using fab as the "proper" way. People can use it however they like. I think the frustration comes in, as the OP says, when people message you expecting you to drop your knickers 24/7 "cos you're on fab and it's a sex site".

We came to fab looking to meet people for sex. The forum community was an unexpected and welcome bonus for me. There can be a perception that people who spend a lot of time on the forums are not getting any... For me, the two parts of our fab experience are quite separate! But "men" don't think it's just because we're on the site.

They look at the site, see pictures of women posing in varying states of undress sometimes very explicitly. They read profiles requesting gang bangs, dogging, greedy girl nights etc. If they read the forum they might see women describing how they like certain sexual activities etc. This leads them to think that "women" are here to get sex.

Not all women are of course but neither do all men think they are.

For me the beauty of Fab is that it can be whatever you want to be. I use it as my adult Facebook but when I want sex, I find someone I like the look of. "I agree to a certain extent - it baffles me why men think just because we are on the site (women) then we want sex with them. I get so many messages - meet now, I’m half a mile away. Etc etc. That is where I think they have their perceptions skewed. I have no issue with people wanted one offs and last minute etc but it has to be mutual obviously and lots of men don’t quite get this. They appear to think it’s a take away service for sex.

But "men" don't think it's just because we're on the site.

They look at the site, see pictures of women posing in varying states of undress sometimes very explicitly. They read profiles requesting gang bangs, dogging, greedy girl nights etc. If they read the forum they might see women describing how they like certain sexual activities etc. This leads them to think that "women" are here to get sex.

Not all women are of course but neither do all men think they are. "

As I have very little contact with women on here I have no clue how they behave. Yes absolutely women on here in the majority do want sex - it’s the assumption that we will have sex with anyone who asks that’s draining.

Probably be a we're older we don't get that assumption made about us so much.

My point really is that some women are presenting themselves very sexually. This leads some men to assume they want sex. Now I know it usually means they want sex but only with certain people and at a time of their choosing but aren't those men using the same selection process? It's just that they want sex with women who don't want sex with them.

Maybe it is a sex site, maybe it isn't. That'sjust a label. But even if it is, not wanting to have sex with somebody is not wasting anybody's time. If somebody thinks that because they can't just book in a shag session at will then their time is being wasted by somebody else is just an ignorant moron. A sex site wouldn't work like that anyway.

My opinion is that this is a site for sexually liberal people. What somebody does with being open-minded about sex is their own business. It is not Dial-a-shag. Luke

The thing is though and this is where the distinction comes in - it doesn't actually come down to whether it is or isn't a sex site - but people's perceptions of what it is, and sadly *some* men (and women and couples) *do* think it's a "shagging site" and under that misconception think that all the normal rules of decency, respect and consideration etc don't apply, when the reality is they probably apply more.

I've been told many times, by both single males and couples, that I shouldn't be on here if I'm not prepared to meet people for sex. What those people tend not to understand is that I do meet people from here for sex, I just have no desire to meet them specifically.

It's the false sense of entitlement that some people have that usually leads to them being disappointed and frustrated.

While I don't consider myself a real part of the community (a visitor at best), I don't treat as a sex site anymore.

I see dozens of status updates from women with their requests for x y and z every day. "I want bbc/bwc today" "I want my pussy eaten tonight" "I want to be pounded tonight". Fab is essentially an online shopping website for them.

This isn't a moan nor am I looking down on them. Just making the point that women do this too.

The point is, the website is whatever you want to make it to be. I don't see the point in trying to convince yourself that fab isn't inherently a sex website. Most people meet and have sex, whether swinging or not.

It's not demeaning to consider this a sex site.
