Just a general question really...

A guy sends you a well constructed message (with face pic) and you open and read it.

Now... I am not stupid and I'm bet aware that a read message that isn't replied to generally means the person receiving the message is not interested.

However, how long do most girls leave it before replying to a message that DOES pique your interest?

Instantly? An hour? A day?

Asking for a friend, just curious

Pretty much instantly otherwise I’ll forget or it will get lost in my inbox. Sometimes I mark as unread so I can come back to it if I’m not able to answer at that time.

I would like them to get ride of the sent box though so people can’t see when their messages have been read though. I don’t like that feature. People read too much into it

If I'm going to reply but don't want to then and there I will mark the message unread as a reminder.

Some of my conversations are.using ling and detailed messages, so I don't reply until I have time to give it my full attention.

If I've opened a message, left it on read but not replied then I'm not planning on replying.

This is why I'm asking... I like the feature of seeing when a message is read.

It's about the only armoury or weapon a guy has in this battlefield, if it isn't hard enough

Oh god but a message read and not replied to is even worse though. I have taken to deleting sent messages on whattsapp for this reason. Makes life so much more peaceful.

I can deal with a read message that's deleted, that's fine...i know where I stand etc.

It varies from straight away to within a day or two for me for a first message. For subsequent messages (with people I want to chat to), it can be straight away to...erm...a week! Longer gaps than that usually mean I think it’s fizzled out...

Depends how much time I have at the moment of opening the msg, if I’m short on time I will mark it as unread and go back to it, but if I have the time then I would reply straight away especially if they have caught my attention

As soon as I can, if I read it and don't reply it doesn't mean I won't ever. Some messages I don't reply to because they are closed/not of interest to me/way too intense.

I'm trying to be better at deleting ones I'm not going to reply to, as I know now that this frustrates people when they're sitting read. So I generally open everything, mark unread the ones I want to go back to and bulk delete the rest. Always feel a bit rotten though.
