Seems COVID social distancing doesn’t affect STDs lol

The logical conclusion would be that people aren't engaging in social distancing if they're catching STIs

So yeah:

“STIs have gone up by 5%, with 70,936 new gonorrhoea diagnoses in 2019 driving the increase, a Public Health England report shows”

So nothing to do with COVID then..

My bad, maybe this is from before COVID but numbers have increased and I guess people need to be a lil extra extra careful. Maybe COVID will show a decreasing trend when new cases are counted. Fingers crossed.

Safe sex is key!!

Personal hygiene goes without saying.

I'm guessing the 2020 figures will show a huge drop.

"I'm guessing the 2020 figures will show a huge drop."

The article says that but not due to a reduction in activity but due to a lack of GUM clinics being open.

OP is right, be safe and be aware, regular testing is a good thing and from my experience the people who run the clinics are lovely and non judgmental

It’s old data but also a lot of the under 25 free test me sights only tested for chlamydia in the past as that was the biggest risk in under 25s. Now they are testing for both so that could also explain the rise.

I saw an Australian graph (they're into spring). The rate plummeted.
