Been suffering shoulder and neck pain for over two weeks now, living on painkillers.

I hate going to a doctor and with my recent medical history I don’t want to go

Nor to a hospital ( fuck that )

Anyone got any ideas?

My right arm is aching too

If you think the problem is muscular you can try going to a physio/sports therapist/massage person.

But if its something like a slipped disk you'll need medical scans to be properly diagnosed.

I can understand your reluctance to visit the GP, but based on your recent medical history, I think it would be wise to give them a call.

Club Meets Only

Most drs are doing over the phone consultations. I'd definitely give them a call, you could need some anti inflammatory, other pain killers or a referral to another Dr.

Could be anything..If painkillers aren't working I definitely advise seeing a doctor.

Sometimes heat compressions help or cold. Just depends on what it is.. Difficult with muscle problems...

Have you done anything different recently e.g. carried something, slipped down kerb, slept on a different bed or with different pillows? Does it feel muscular?

You could try heat or cold, a painkilling cream, gentle stretching, standing with a hot shower aimed at it or something that will relax the muscles like massage or meditation.

Hope it gets better soon

I sometimes get a bad neck and shoulder usually a muscle in shoulder which effects the neck really painful ! I found some neck exercises on u tube which really helps but does take time ! Take ibuprofen rather than painkillers as they are a antiinflam so could help if it's a trapped nerve!

Good luck

Would you avoid the dentist and seek "sexpert" advice from fab if you were having complications of dental decay?

Go see a healthcare professional

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

Please go to the doctor. I've got bad back problems partly because I didn't get checked earlier

I suffer from neck and shoulder pain. Sat to long in front of the lap top.

Its usually tight, knotted muscles for me.

I have a massage every few months and it really helps. They use hot bamboo canes with oils rather than hands.

Might be worth a try.

Chiropractor, taking painkillers won’t get to the route of the problem. Good luck

Under the Duvet

Not sure if you work from a desk Stell, if so you could be sitting funny or the chair or desk needs adjusting. Need to do a desk assessment, work should point you in the right direction.

Are you feeling stressed over anything? Stress can physically manifest in the body, particularly neck and shoulders (does for me). Need to try and address what's stressing you.

But ultimately if the pain carries on you need to go to the docs. Mine are doing assessments over the phone at the min, so you don't need to go in and sit with the germy folks.

Hope you are ok xx

Maybe try and speak to your GP over the phone, or video call? This way you may get a referral to a physio without going in to see the doctor? Heat patches or cream as others have said also?

NHS website. You can go through symptom checker on 111.nhs.uk

Also they have great write ups for stuff like this and exercises (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/neck-pain-and-stiff-neck/).

If continues though then it has to be GP.

It def needs checking out professionally. I appreciate you dont like doctors etc but no cream or pain killers will resolve the problem with the sounds of it.

You need to get a diagnosis to work out whether it is joint or muscle pain. I tore the muscle under the shoulder blade and physio didn’t help, two lots of acupuncture did however

What she said!

I haven't got the faintest idea on your medical history OP, or why you are reluctant to seek proper advice, but your GP or the NHS help lines in the first instance should be your first contacts.

With your medical history I'd refer you to your doctor/consultant for a medical diagnosis or permission to treat before I looked at you ... xxx

I’m sure it’s purely muscular, I just have a nagging doubt..

I’m struggling to do much, I can put up with pain, having gone through throat cancer.

But fuck it’s bloody uncomfortable

I'd definitely recommend a trip to the physio. They will help ascertain what is causing the issue as well as treating it

You recently battled a nasty disease, you are having pain in a site not too far away from to where the thing was.

I understand your reluctance, but you should really go to the doctor with this.

sounds like nerve pain. Google physiotherapy for neck pain and try that. I had a bad time with neck and head nerve pain. It did eventually ease after about a month. X

See a dr!!

A swingers site is not the place for medical advice!

I’m currently awaiting a nerve conduction test then possible surgery.

Hope that you get sorted soon.

Yes I understand that, however you can socialise at a safe distance but still not the place to get medical advice from, just saying
