They are there popping up all over the place now. Big ones, small ones. Mysterious objects in the woods and fairy rings on the grass. Bulbous ones. Flat top ones. Puffy ones. Fruiting bodies spectral in the gloom.

Every time it rains I get them round the Ash trees in my garden. Horrible greasy black residue when I mow them.

Mr is quiet adept at differentiating between puff balls, fairy rings and shaggy ink caps

We had some lovely foraged mushrooms for our tea last night, on toasted olive bread and a poached egg
