Chams or Socials

I know that organ donation consent is now implied unless you opt out but what about being a stem-cell donor?

I’ve just read a heartbreaking story of an 8 year old girl from Yorkshire whose stem cell transplant donor has withdrawn. This girl has had an ovary removed ready to be transplanted back in the future.

T had a stem-cell transplant in 2017 but was lucky that his own cells worked. If not already on the register, would you consider it?

I'm on the register, very easy to sign up for anyone considering it. Just need to do cheek swabs and send them off.

Yup, am on DKMS register. Am finally cleared to donate blood now too and am going to look into Covid antibody plasma donation as soon as I'm cleared after my surgery.

Got me thinking..been many years since I saw doctor to have a DNR put on my records along with a total dishing out of any useable parts and stuff that maybe left..only thing is I ve drifted so much I 1) dont know who now has my docs and 2) whether all that still stands..should do. Quite funny as he appeared very keen on helping me put up my dnr and even more so about the spare parts
