Since when did people begging for drinks become a thing?

I keep seeing on social media people asking for drinks to be sent to there tables on the Wetherspoon app.

As if people would send anything.

If my mates did that I’d send them an old boot or something.

"Some people just crave attention "

I suppose but I’ve seen celebs do it on their Instagram too. Proper cringeworthy.

Really, some people are really that stupid. Here's your spiked drink, enjoy!!

Maybe it's just me but having seen a few that have been spiked using that method it is certainly not nice, especially when it is one of group socialising.

This is a new thing to me. You mean you’re in the pub and someone somewhere else arranged a drink to be given to you?

The app means you order to a table, the bar staff still make and deliver them

If your mate goes to your local Wetherspoon and sends your table number on social media anyone that sees it can send drinks/food to them using the Wetherspoon app.

My son used to love sending bowls of peas to people in response to their requests

I was on another forum and a guy was having a bad time and he was going out for his birthday and was stood up. He asked if anyone fancied meeting for a drink, some met him and others sent birthday drinks to the table it was lovely actually and he did live updates of the night. It was just what this guy needed as he was having a hard time. At the end of the day it’s down to the people who send the drinks

In general, there's a generation of people increasing that have learnt to find attention on social media of Desperate sods who will do almost anything. I see things posted all the time like "someone send me £10 so i can get a dinner tonight and I'll give you a private pic of my tits"

I would not ask for one or send one, but there might be some circumstances where it would be appropriate and fun.

My friend did this and all his friends sent him a portion of peas because it was the cheapest thing on the menu

It's a bit cheeky and a bit shameless but harmless in the grand scheme of things.

I did read about one chancer who set up a go fund me to pay for his and his wife's bar tab at a swanky club in Ibiza!

The phrase More Neck Than a Giraffe springs to mind

Not unknown, that method involves bent bar staff, not seen it in the UK, only in the Med, usually blokes targeted early evening so they can be robbed.

Ever since the app existed people have been using it to ask for drinks - in particular young women who have people buy their drinks all night

its another form of fin service

Well I never! I suppose if people are willing to buy the drinks for others then the others will continue to ask
