Have a desk top pc and bought a new wireless keyboard. Bluetooth apparently but when trouble shoot bluetooth my pc is not compatible apparently.

I expected the new keyboard to have a small usb dongle and looks there should be one from the small hold near battery input. Any ideas please.

From Microsoft, tried that yet?

Some keyboards and accessories have bluetooth radios built in and rely on the system to do the work.

Failing that it might need a driver from the manufacturers website.

Near Carmarthen

My wireless keyboard and mouse does indeed have a dongle that plugs in a USB port to enable a connection between them.

Have you tried the manufacturers website for info?

You'll only have Bluetooth connectivity if the PC itself supports Bluetooth. These type of keyboards are primarily designed for tablets etc, ie those things that have in built Bluetooth. What you need is a wireless keyboard, which will contain the USB dongle you refer to. The keyboard you have maybe is used in wireless in another model that is manufactured (they'll use the same shell of the keyboard for thier Bluetooth model, it's the internals that are swapped out)

you can buy a wireless keyboard but its still needs the wireless reciever if yours is not compatable you need to buy a usb bluetooth dongle

some mainboards can have issues with either bluetooth or even wireless

same with operating systems make sure you can get the drivers for the usb dongle
