Or how about sending a message to the person you’re interested in speaking to rather than presuming they are entitled to see the content they have kept as private for a reason?

No not really, as by doing the above that you suggested, we end up with endless why nots, or worse, a tirade of abuse. If you read the faq section, it's not considered rude not to reply, no reply means no interest. As for the block, many use it as a filter so they don't come up in searches and newsfeeds. Deleting also means no interest. Now please tell me why you would wish to engage with someone who clearly isn't interested just to waste your time and their time?

Mine is simply to try and convey a message of tolerance within this little community. I haven’t the answers as to why people do wacky things like request friends with no introduction or representation.

You mention abuse so I’ll tell you this. Abuse is rife on here regardless. I get abuse for sending a well thought out articulate message, called lazy fake pig and my messages are cut and pasted, even told “hope I get my legs blown off if deployed” (army).

We instantly delete friend requests if we haven't chatted to them. They only want to look at our friends only photos.

We tend to keep our friends list to those we have met or would like to meet.

There is certain etiquette to follow a random friend request always suspicious and should be always deleted method often employed by hackers picture collectors and fake profiles simply not worth the risk..

We receive quite a few from people we’ve never even chatted to (mostly from single guys), so we assume they’re just nosey feckers who just want to see what photos we have behind the veil...

Mostly end in a block if we already have a note on their profile

I never send a request unless I have spoken and more importantly asked if I could send one.

Being a single male, rarely do I get friend requests but when I do I expect that the person or persons have at least said hello before I accept.

I do have plenty of pics in friend only, I think requests are for those.

My Pics are there for a reason, friends who I trust and privacy from those who I don't.

Once upon a time, I sent a message and rather than a reply, simply received a friend request, which I accepted. Messaged them back, a few time, never had a reply, so just deleted them from my friends list.

I only ever send a friend request if I've been chatting, or have met the person. My fiends list is very curated, and often gets purged (not on fab for months, goes silent, etc)

So if you are one of the few on my friends list, here's a hug, because you're special.

We get a few and tend to do this, we only accept them from people we have already chatted to.

We have had a few requests from people with hidden profiles with whom we have never chatted. So if we accepted we wouldn’t even get the benefit of a bit of a perv.

I sometimes send out requests to people who's forum posts or pics I've enjoyed over time, as I think they might be fun to know. Sadly the state of my inbox means if they message me I don't often see it, but I view friendship here a bit differently I guess. For me, friends are people who like my content/posts/bio etc or I've liked theirs, and I might like to get to know them one day or bump into them in the future. It's not about becoming best friends and chatting daily, but more about friendly acquaintances I suppose.

Each to their own! If you don't want friend requests, just ignore them.

I got 3 of these in the last week,

1 of which we chatted a bit for one evening then nothing, which is fine, it is what it is,

But it got me thinking about my friends list, being off here for so long then returning I thought, how many old friends have I chatted with since returning.

Not many

So I deleted the new silent Ninja requests and then had a cull and deleted some more.

I'm left with 5 and that's fine also. Would never have even crossed my mind if it wasn't for this new request to perv trend going around.
