Possibly, plus furloughs are ending, schools are due back, everyone is fed up with social distancing...

Nothing to do with it... plenty of people on here just going in the same sort of threads each and every day. People post them threads just to get the response. Think there should be something on here where a post or simular is limited to once a week.

To be serious for a moment - which I know is never a good idea around here - the problem probably isn't the forum, or the content, but the individual's own perception of it.

If you're in a good place mentally it can be joyous and uplifting. If you're in a bad place it can be soul destroying

The forum is what it is, take from it whatever you will

Here endeth the lesson. Go in peace, my children

There and to the left a bit

Ultimately the forums are what we each make of them as individuals and doesn't even have to be related to whether you're in a good or bad place currently - personally I'm in a pretty good place generally speaking but am finding them a little tiresome lately - it's either trite nonsense or people taking offence at people holding a different opinion.

It may be related to lockdown, it may be peaks and troughs and this is just a particularly long trough, or it may just be the regular "changing of the guard" that happens as people come and go and I've not particularly warmed to the new guard - whatever it is though, it is what it is and I'm quite happily taking a back seat and post only on things that take my interest, which is less and less.

There are far more important things in life and the forums are after all a tiny percentage of the site.

Actually joking aside you make a very good point some activities do tend to get frowned on or attract the negative type of comments - but when a BDSM thread for example attracts a good positive response that is the kind of thing I enjoy.

Even a decent debate that doesn't descend into offence being taken for holding an opposing opinion can be interesting

Yeah I've seen some awful things said on BDSM related threads - the worst being that anyone into it must have mental health issues by someone that when challenged continued to assert that belief

Shaven or hairy threads always seem to descend into people being vile too.

Why people can't just accept others may have different tastes and desires and accept that even though it's not for them, others may like it, is beyond me.

"I've started a few threads, and they are probably ones that the masses avoid or say are cringe worthy. No matter, we can all avoid the threads we don't like. I've had some great conversations off the back of them. Loads of people have been on here for years so original threads will be hard to think up. I stay in the lighthearted, flirty threads. Too often I've seen words be misread, or taken out of context and people get upset x

I've only recently started to to make a conscious effort to comment on the forums but I think you threads have been great fun"

Thank you for saying that x

Yup, same old repetitive threads...

Used to be a social place to spark new conversations with people.

Now it's just mostly attention seeking/ego boosting.

Maldon and Peterborough

It can be difficult at times to find amusement, especially with meets still not happening making people frustrated.

All we can do is our little bit to bring joy and happiness to others.

.

And squeeze a few bums on the way.

The best advice comes from The Ramones - they decided to play the music they wanted to hear on the radio.

The threads I create are primarily for my own amusement and if other people like them or comment on them great that is a bonus (and I love it when they go off at tangents).

Some of mine die and do the thread drop of shame, some shine for a few brief moments and others soar to the heights. But I keep plugging away.

Don't tailor a thread to the audience. Let the audience find your thread. Post what you'd like to see or talk about.

If you enjoy knitting do a knitting thread.

Use an interest or hobby (other than sex) of yours to connect with people (a good one was Lacey_Red's geek/nerds thread which started a plethora of rpg/geeky/nerd threads).

Observe the world around you and post funny/serious anecdotes of what you see.

Do a nature watch thread (I saw a dead badger on the road yesterday - what road kill have you seen recently?).

If you enjoy reading start a forum book club.

Go niche and talk about the socioeconomic impact of anal fisting amongst stockbrokers.

The forum is not one community but many communities each trying to vie for space. And you never know you might connect with someone you never thought you would connect with.

The only limit is what you can think of. If someone trolls your thread don't engage with the troll.

Hoist the mainsail and have at it.

Things come and go, holiday periods affect things. Plus the sex rations are likely having a big influence, on top of the big challenge out there affecting everyone in complex ways. Fab as well as the forum are best dipped into at the right times for us and stayed away from when we're not getting what we need
