As I have found out sending an item of mail recorded delivery & it not having to be signed for on delivery? What am I paying for? Rant over..

They stopped signatures during Covid.

At least you know it's been delivered.

not all recorded deliveries require a signature, the postie records the parcel as being delivered, if you require a signature on delivery then thats an additional service to be requested and payed for. BUT during social distancing the post office are not getting signatures for all parcels to prevent the risk of spreading the virus.

With Royal Mail and others they confirm that someone is at the property before they leave the parcel.

They ring the bell : knock the door. Leave the item on the step and stand back. The resident then collects the parcel.

If not collected Within a few minutes or acknowledged, the Mail man takes the parcel away and leaves a note about attempted delivery.

So yes. Delivery is confirmed. Just not by signature.
