I often see people saying goodbye on the forums, only to be met with comments such as "You'll be back", "You can check out but you'll never leave".

I for one have left and rejoined over the years, but firmly tell myself the next time is for good.

What stops you leaving for good, and why has FAB got such a hold on you?

Here I can share my experiences in life etc and hope that someone will be impacted positively by it.

Here I have control to a degree, a small part of the big wide world where I could so easily find myself out of control and walking a dangerous path of self loathing and destruction.

It's toxic for me here, but a familiar foe.

I'll probably never leave. If I want a break I'll just hide my profile. The forum is fun and an escape. It entertains me. And I like writing and coming up with threads to amuse (and not so amuse). Anything else is a bonus.

My fucked upness is sitting high upon my moral horse. My moral compass it extreme. That's because I have been on the receiving end of much shitty behaviour, manipulation and some pure evil.

My fucked upness is less judgey but more .... I've seen the damage that comes from that shit and want no part of it.

The difference between me and many others is I own my shizzle.

People may see someone who blames their ex(s) for being this way. Not really...... They're the reason I've seen and experienced the things I have, but I am the reason I've learnt from them, and I choose not to be involved in hurting others.

I left last year and wasn't ever coming back and I meant it.

Stupid pandemic changed everything. My crap life got even worse.

I came back because the people on Fab make me laugh and they make me think outside the box. The forums got me through some really crappy times.

Now I can see some light for the first time in nearly 2 years so not sure what next.

I think that's quite annoying sometimes. I like to come and go, it suits me, but people have gotten pissed off with me for it before like it's a failure to commit to the site or a failure to stay away. I just find it a bit odd. I enjoy it in short spells, use all parts of the site lots, meet up with new people then give it up for it a bit when it gets less fun, but I've never left in a huff saying I'm not coming back. I always know I'm coming back and I'll be enthusiastic about it all again

Works for me as I don't get jaded then.

I've hidden my profile when real life takes pre_edence but I've never left nor started a thread to say I was going to - I've seen a lot of people do that over the years and then a couple of weeks later they yoyo back.

I find myself using fab less and less at the moment, I think that those I want to interact with (on the whole) I can do so outside of here. I'm not sure fab has a hold on me - it's fun at times but not the be all and end all.

But now I’m not so sure. My local updates show folk looking to meet for sex like nothing’s happened which I find a bit annoying and (selfishly) frustrating.

I also got recently shelved by my FWB as I won’t meet so he’s set up a couples account with someone else which I found out via local updates.

So at the moment I’m feeling a bit meh about the whole easy come, easy go mentality.

What's so bad about attention seeking? If someone is in a bad place, a few nice comments on their leaving thread may give them a boost.

I think it's good if it makes people feel better.

I did a leaving thread last time and it was good. Some comments that cheered me up. Some made me laugh. And there was a bit of a bunfight.

For me its the wide variety of characters and loves and passions and Im not talking just sexy..Im talking EVERYTHING. If you re in trouble some will support...theres always someone out there, even for me and thats really saying something. Diversity and openness like nowhere else. I've hidden my profile loads of times as it does get a bit much sometimes especially the abuse for not meeting.

I stay because I enjoy reading the forums and more recently getting properly involved - the lounge is so much more easy going than many others.

It's a break from my normal day to day life which can feel a bit dull and unfulfilling right now.

When I'm cheesed off with this place I hide for a while. I've come close to leaving a few times but I just seem to change my mind. If I decided to leave for good I would probably just private message people, not do a thread. I like the banter in the Forums and, ultimately, I'm here for sex meets, parties and anything else involving kink.

Maybe, but we all attention seek to a degree?

Some people leave because they have made a conscious life change choice and its all sweet. Others maybe feel dejected,and sure, reach out and express how they feel hoping others will make them feel valued? Perhaps they don't really want to.

I guess Fab isn't just about sex, its a gap filler for many, and a sounding block for many....maybe they don't have that in vanilla life.
