Excellent cause OP, I have just completed the 25 press up for 25 day challenge. To raise awareness to mental health and PTSD.

We all experience this and people should know they are not alone #justonemoreday x

Thanks, OP, for raising this. To he honest, I've been struggling with mine recently and have gone from talking to a friend who's a mental health first aider, to my GP, to the local mental health authority and now am waiting for an assessment by the next level up from them.... :-/

I have good days and bad, and it can change by the minute, and I'm still learning about the issue and myself but I am also willing to chat to anyone that needs to

I think about it everyday..about others and myself..its a tough life and the best we can do is learn about who we are and how best to manage ourselves..because there will be times when theres no one around to help. If you need to discover yourself through talking then do so but dont rest at that. When you have a realisation of something then go deeper in analysis of how you feel and how you can manage it. I lived wild for two years and experienced every emotion possible but I also learned from it. For me 2 years isolated in a woodland showed me nature was my tonic...she always calms me. Wishing all of you the very very best.

Mine is all over the shop at the moment, I am one of the lucky ones though as I have wonderful people looking out for me.

To anyone struggling, please reach out to someone. It really does make a huge difference.

Great post op. If anyone want a chat about anything they are suffering with let me know. I've dealt with a lot of mental health issues both personally and in wider family and friend network. So always happy to lend a friendly ear.

I've been having weekly counselling with a private therapist since April. Lost my aunt in January and my Dad suddenly in March this year.

Things have been sh#t, but looking for that

The right place

It’s always good to stop and think about our own and other people’s mental health.

I do often wonder if this is a great environment for people struggling with mental health issues, but as has been said above the best thing is to talk about it to a trusted friend.

Doesn't have to be trusted friend. Just someone non judgmental. I've times in then past where I was suffering so much I alienated everyone... I had no one! Mental health can do that. Can be you're own worst enemy. Personally I think talking to someone who doesn't know you and you're past is better... at first then you can get it all out and turn to friends and family. Mayb3 a professional as they can guide you and give advice on how to express yourself in a way people will understand.

Not many people who don't suffer with it understands what it's like.

Told my mum and she said don't be so ridiculous it's all in your head. So be careful who you turn too. Professional is my advice.

I don't think it is. Certainly if I'm feeling low it can make me feel worse, so I take myself off for a few days to recharge

That's what I'm hoping for, professional help.

I've told a few friends I trust, and debated whether to tell brother or not, as he's the "Snap out of it" kind, but I did in the end because it explains my mood over the past few months.

I've not told my mum, though, because she'll just worry about me more than she does anyway, and there's no point telling dad as he won't understand. But what's worse is he won't even try to understand

But wise words from both of you guys above. Thank you

As much as I agree with what you are saying and not everyone has someone they trust enough to reach out to. The professional route can be a scary one and sometimes people aren't ready to do that straight away. I think as long as people can speak to someone weather it's a friend or a professional, it makes a difference. I definitely found it easier to go to someone I trusted first.

I've taken a mental health day off work today .

Sometimes you get to a point where there's been too many things to deal with and you need to have a day of not being strong.

some family and friends know i have struggled for ages but maybe not that its been getting worse

know can reach out to them if needs be but dont like being a burden or seen as the person who cried wolf too often

have reached out to strangers and to charities as well but have the same fears

often felt reaching out was for those who maybe were nearer to doing something silly than i was - though have often thought about it and even done the note

biggest thing i find is being too hard on myself for not doing more with my days and feeling wasting time- used to think that getting out each day was an achievement but feel should be doing more

It’s been a hard few months and has certainly had an effect on my mental health. Upped dosage of meds and was starting to feel the benefit but had news of my mom being ill Monday so that’s set me back.

But I’m a practical person so will deal with it all, make sure my children get through it then sort myself out after. I know it’s not healthy but I don’t know any other way to be. X

Wow. Some great stories and experiences here. While I haven't experienced mental health issues myself, I can empathize with you. It takes a lot of courage and strength to go out and reach out for help. Truly inspirational stuff. I admire you all for sharing your experiences and gives us an insight to your challenges. Stay strong guys. You guys are truly awesome.

Yeah if you have that. Doesn't have to be a professional as in a shrink. You're GP is a good one to go too if you have a long history with them.

We need to change the way we look at mental health...start talking about things before they get too much. It doesn’t matter to whom to talk as long as you do. I run a project in South Wales and now before GP prescribed antidepressants individuals are referred here to talk...many do not go on to need antidepressants. Look at how we live our lives how much we bottle up, ignore and tell ourselves we’ll be ok. Eventually something gives and often that’s a part of us.

Talk before it’s too late. Before you feel like your falling apart. Take that time out...go on that trip..take the break. It’s more important than you’ll ever know.

Oddly enough many get a physical niggle and they sort it out straight away yet when it comes to our minds we wait until it’s unbearable.

Anyone who needs to genuinely talk feel free to message

Tunbridge Wells

I will not lie, it is total hell.

This whole virus situation makes it so much worse. I was unfortunate to suffer a heart attack in March and because of that and my mental health had to isolate. Throw in that all face to face support and all that was available was a once a week 30 minute phone call it was not good.

Due to the nature of who I am I tend to shut myself away anyway but actually being told you can not go out is awful.

I hate all this mental health day, you get everyone posting rubbish on social media but seriously how many of them are really going to be there when you need them? I have and would do it for ANYONE yet can count on one hand who would be there for me so now I am at the point in just suffer in silence
