I am long time geek and had built a small data centre in my loft. Computer cabinet, home build storage server, Linux compute server and VmWare ESXi server I use to test stuff for my work (IT security) and a network switch for connections into my home office and the living room. I recently added another NAS storage server for my music and video recordings, a new wireless access point and two Raspberry PI computer for monitoring and security controls.

Very geeky and very exciting, but so far no one had an orgasm over it.

And through the Covid lockdown, I picked up dungeons and dragons. Didn’t think I’d enjoy it much, but it’s great! Wished I’d of started sooner.

Do music geeks count?

I think Franz Joseph Haydn is a very underrated composer. His contribution to the development of the symphony and string quartet was huge. His direct contemporary Mozart (who was birth and death was in Haydn's lifetime) gets disproportionately more praise.

Haydn is one of the greatest composers of all time, imhgo (in my humble geeky opinion).

"I am long time geek and had built a small data centre in my loft.

12u server rack in what I call the "server room" (cupboard under the stairs), 1 4u server, 1 1u router, 1 1u 24 port poe gigabit switch. Ethernet ran throughout the house with 2 ubiquiti ap pros for WiFi. Plex server and blueiris for 3 CCTV cameras. Have multiple websites I've built over the years, plus an automated bot for booking certain things.

specialise in c#, but can cater for many coding and scripting languages as well as basic network configuration. Also have a passion for code optimization and performance analysis...

I run the controller on my server, its quite lightweight. I love ubiquiti too (most of the time), except when it decides to unadopt the WiFi dishes or switch for no reason then is a nightmare to re-adopt!

Yep, it was a choice between Cannondale, Trek or Norco all quality but I liked the versatility of the Trek and the styling.

Pretty new to MTB, and the Trek seemed like a good base to start from without spending thousands, I figured it was a good compromise between price and quality

Would rather have a good quality mid range than the top end of a cheaper brand.

I have also raised my boys to be empassioned gamers and computer nerds through me having a PC custom built for them, they now build their own machines, built for gaming.

My youngest has a degree in game developing and maths and is currently working as a Scripter for a rather large gaming studio.

When he's not working he is working on his own creations as well as competing on Rocket League (stupidly high up in the ranks)

He also play piano

My eldest is a professional gamer online streamer and content creator for Twitch....He is also a qualified dog trainer and behaviourist, so when he's not geeking out over computers he is geeking out over dogs

An ex of mine did computer science and AI at uni. He basically used to wire everything to be electrical. He certainly believed that electric shocks improved everything .

Another friend of mine is an engineer. Similar fascination with electrics. He built this contact plate thing which meant when you touched them they were electrocuted. He also wrapped some women up in metatalic tinsel on it at Christmas and lit them up like a Christmas tree. He built two fucking machines too.

Did you not know in the bible it even said “... and the geek will inherit the Earth.”

Sure the it says Meek now but it’s just a Latin to English typo.

Also, I am a geek.

Science, medical, sci-fi, video games, electronics, warhammer (40K universe is best for me!), history, they’re kinda all my thing.

Sadly not so much on the sexy side (to my view, but I guess it’s a matter of perspective).

Glad to see such diversity in the geeky spectrum though!!!!
