I've just had one that I can see starts with "hey baby girl" from someone I've never interacted with.

Can't bring myself to open it.

And that's part of the reason I have to be in the mood to even go through and delete, because just seeing the opening few words of a fair few highly inappropriate messages is enough to get me "man hating" for the day.

How have you both managed to misread this? OP you have stated that you deleted and blocked a person who sent you a message. A message that you never opened in the first place to decide whether the author should be blocked?

I can easily check the profile of the sender without reading the message, see he is a cheating liar and decide that's someone that I not only don't want to converse with, but also someone that had completely disregarded everything I've taken the time to write on my profile.

This! I delete unread and block all the time. If they took the time to read my profile before sending the message, they wouldn't land on my block list of the first place. Also anyone that sends FaF, has a cock as their avatar, sends a dick pic or generally vile, earns a place there too.

I guess so, I’ve sent messages to friends unaware that they have so many unread messages, on reflection all I’m doing is adding to that number unless they just happen to see it.

I can sift mine pretty quickly if I've got the time and the inclination.

I've been here long enough to recognise FAF from a random or a message worth a follow up from someone interesting.

I had all my filters right up over lockdown,and got very few messages though which was fine.

If it gets unmanageable I'll bring my filters in again.

Top and bottom of it is if I want to chat to you I will.

Most of my best convo and meets have come through the forums anyway
