We've always tried to stay in shape with the gym and fitness classes (not obsessively) but now lock down is easing and gyms are back open we have both said it's become so difficult to get motivated to go which is a bad thing as we need to shift the lock down weight gain and get back in shape anyone else been having this problem or was you rather excited to get back into it?

I would love to get back to swimming but the pool we used was a small one and we consider it just too risky.

I have a couple of dumbbells for this exact reason so I could carry on with workouts in lockdown

Motivation is a bitch

Im quite proud of myself. Once the gums shut I bought a crosstrainer and kettle bells and set up in the garage. I now run on the road for the last 5 months and exercise has kept me sane and toned.. Not returning to the gym. Plus I'm 9lb down..Exercise as we know is excellent for the mind and i knew if i stopped then I could end up in a bit of a rut and probably a dark place..Nothing better than them fabulous endorphins....

I totally know what you mean though. So easy to lose motivation...

I couldn't wait to get back in. I was back in the gym on day 1 and started outdoor training with my PT in the park as soon as it was allowed. I'm just pissed that I'm now on the sidelines due to surgery for a while, just as things open up. I managed one week of wheelchair basketball training before I had to stop and am being tortured weekly by the pics/video clips of training

Not sure how your hectic your lifestyle is, but for some cramming regular sessions in can be a struggle. So when the gyms shut, people suddenly found time on their hands that they didn't have before... Getting back into that routine is the key!

Also, at the risk of sounding like a gym bro, it's more about discipline than motivation.

Force yourself to go, and once see slight results, your motivation sorted for you. Hope this helps!

I think you have hot the nail on the head there, before it was kind of on auto pilot routine that we enjoyed but now we've been idol it's so hard to get the routine back

You worded it much better but yes autopilot is the reason you got into it once though so can be done again plus muscle memory is a beautiful thing

Mine was the opposite.

I have a treadmill, weights, bench at mine but never had time to use them, once we locked down, I did, I'm in the best shape for a couple of years.

When I'm back out at work next week I hope I still manage to find the time and the will to workout.

Well said. Probably not many people think "great it's time to exercise". However, pretty sure most feel good afterwards.

We generally rather enjoyed it before we have been going since they reopened but the motivation is very much lacking. It kind of now a chore. I know it just a phase but I was wondering if many others have been the same or its just us being lazy lol

I was lucky. I go to a little private gym and they were awesome. Online sessions every day, challenges, healthy recipes, loaning equipment and lots more. Think I actually did more than before lockdown! Will be a bit more tricky as work picks back up again naturally though
